Holiday Activities & Décor
Holiday cheer filled the streets of Downtown
Redwood City this year through the return of
several celebrations and décor in Courthouse
Square. The RCIA invested $32K in holiday
décor that included holiday banners and lights
throughout downtown and much more. In
partnership with the City of Redwood City,
RCIA helped coordinate the Annual Tree
Lighting Ceremony at Courthouse Square, which
brings hundreds of people to downtown for
the beautiful lighting of the tree at Hamilton &
Broadway. In addition, the RCIA welcomed back
the Merrie Old Christmas Carolers who led the
community in cheerful singing for four nights
during the holiday season.
2024 ANNUAL REPORT • PAGE 9
RCIA Bi-Weekly Newsletter
The RCIA continued sending bi-weekly
newsletters throughout 2023-2024. The
newsletters provided updates about the City’s
events, business resources, placemaking
initiatives, upcoming business events and
announcements, and all things RCIA and
Downtown Redwood City.
RCIA/City Partnership
The RCIA invested $75K to fund specific capital
improvements associated with the City’s goal of
creating a Pedestrian Mall on the 2000 block
of Broadway. This strategic investment directly
supports the City’s vision to create a Pedestrian
Mall, designed to improve walkability, increase
foot traffic for local businesses and activate
public space for community gatherings.
8.A. - Page 13 of 33
25
