Seaport Centre Levee System Operation and Maintenance Manual <br />December 2022 <br />• Repeat hydroseed application, as needed if first attempt was not successful <br />• Control undesirable vegetation through use of herbicide, mechanical mowing, or other <br />appropriate methods <br />2.2.2 Animal Control Program (baiting, trapping, and barriers) <br />• Control of burrowing animals (gophers, ground squirrels, and rodents) with bait stations, <br />fumigants, smoke bornbs, pesticides, and live trapping to prevent damage or colonization <br />of levee embankments <br />• Displace or exclude animals constructing and using dens (burrows) in thelevee <br />embankments by mechanical rneans <br />2.2.3 Repair animal damage on levee slopes and at levee toe <br />• Excavate burrow locations and reconstruct levee embankment <br />• Pressure -fill burrows with bentonite clay, cement grout slurry. Slurry to consist of two <br />parts bentonite clay, one part cement grout and water <br />• Mud packing method may be used to backfill burrows <br />• For information on the repair of animal burrows refer to FEMA Publication 473, Technical <br />Manual for Dam Owners, Impacts of Animals on Earthen Dams as a reference for repair of <br />animal burrows <br />2.2.4 Levee embankment and slope repairs <br />• Excavate, repair, and reconstruct levee embankments due to seepage, slumps, cracks <br />(longitudinal or transverse), loss of grade, sloughs, slides, rodent burrows, scour, or <br />erosion in order to maintain full levee section <br />• Reconstruct/raise levee crown due to sags, depressions, or groundwater subsidence <br />• The levee is to be repaired to original design specifications. <br />2.2.5 Repair and maintenance of high ground areas along levee alignment <br />• Fill potholes, ruts, or other loss of grade with compacted Class 2 aggregate base or other material <br />to match existing per Caltrans Specifications <br />2.2.6 Repair of levee damage caused by flood events (scour, slumps, and sags) <br />• Inspect and document cause of levee damage <br />• Plans for repairs will be prepared by the City <br />• Schedule and complete construction <br />2.3 Floodwall <br />2025.276 - SEAPORT PURCHASE AGREEMENT <br />REV: 10-15-25 VR Page 3 of 7 BKF ENGINEERS <br />
