City Clerk’s Office
City of Redwood City
Letter of Interest – San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District Board of Trustees
Dear Members of the City Council,
I am writing to express my interest in serving as Redwood City’s representative on the San
Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District Board of Trustees. I am a resident and
registered voter in Redwood City and meet all eligibility requirements for this appointment. I am
seeking appointment to a two-year term.
I am a physician and public health leader with professional experience in population health,
disease prevention, and healthcare system oversight. My career has focused on translating public
health evidence into practical, action particularly in areas where prevention, and health equity
intersect. The District’s role in mitigating vector-borne disease risk through integrated pest
management aligns closely with this work.
Mosquito and vector control is an essential, though often underappreciated, component of public
health infrastructure. As climate conditions, land use patterns, and population mobility evolve,
the importance of proactive, scientifically grounded vector control continues to grow. I value the
District’s emphasis on surveillance, targeted interventions, and environmental stewardship, and I
am motivated to support governance that ensures these efforts remain effective, transparent, and
responsive to community needs.
In prior leadership and governance roles, I have worked with multidisciplinary teams, reviewed
complex technical and operational information, and helped guide organizations responsible for
protecting public health at scale. I am comfortable engaging with regulatory, financial, and
operational considerations and contributing to policy decisions that balance public safety,
environmental impact, and fiscal responsibility.
I am committed to active participation on the Board, regular attendance at meetings, and
thoughtful representation of Redwood City residents. I would welcome the opportunity to apply
my medical and public health perspective in service of the District’s mission and the broader
health of San Mateo County.
Thank you for your consideration. I would be honored to serve and am happy to provide any
additional information if needed.

Sincerely,
Timothy Puri MD
856-503-6610
1007 Iris St, Redwood City, CA 94061
Redwood City, CA
10.B. - Page 5 of 5
795
