Based on the proposed construction type of Type III-A, the required fire flow is 5,250 GPM for <br />four hours. The 50% reduction due to the installation of automatic fire sprinklers meeting section 903.3.1.1 of the <br />2022 CFC (NFPA 13), the required fire flow for this project is 2,625 GPM at 20 psi residual pressure. [CFC §507.1] <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F8 Fire Hydrant and Sprinkler Feed Lines. All water mains that provide a water supply for fire protection (both to fire <br />hydrants and fire service systems) shall not be less than eight inches in diameter. The Applicant is responsible for <br />fulfilling this condition and shall submit plans to the Fire Marshal’s Office for review and approval. Water supply for <br />fire protection is required to be installed in accordance with water purveyor’s specifications. The water supply shall <br />be tested, flushed and approved operable prior to any combustible construction materials being placed on the site. <br />Staged construction shall ensure that the necessary water supply is maintained from stage to stage in the construction <br />planning. [CFC §507.1.1 as amended by the City of Redwood City Code of Ordinances §12.16][SDR] <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F9 Fire Hydrant Placement and Fire Department Connection (FDC) – Buildings equipped with a standpipe <br />system installed in accordance with CFC §905 or a fire sprinkler system complying with CFC §903.3.1.1 must <br />have a fire hydrant within 50-feet of the fire department connection and located on the same side of the <br />roadway. [CFC §507.5.1 as amended by the City] <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F10 Automatic Fire Sprinkler System. All new buildings or structures, with a total floor area of three thousand <br />(3,000) square feet or more are required to be equipped with an automatic fire sprinkler system. [CFC §903.2.13 <br />and §12.18 of the Redwood City Municipal Code] Provide plans and hydraulic calculations as a deferred <br />submittal for the design of the fire sprinkler system. <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F11 Class I Automatic Wet Standpipe Hose Station Outlets – Automatic wet standpipes are required to be installed in all <br />stairways on the intermediate stair landing and on the rooftop. [CFC §905] Fire pump is to be located in the fire pump <br />room as referenced in the plans. Electric fire pumps are to be backed up on emergency power fed from the diesel- <br />powered emergency generators within the generator room. [CFC §913.2.3 and §12.24.1 of the Redwood City <br />Municipal Code] <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F12 Fire Pump: Power Supplies. Electrically driven fire pumps shall be provided with an alternate power source in <br />accordance with NFPA 20, Fire Pumps, due to foreseeable extended electrical service interruptions along the <br />California Power Grid. Please have the permit applicant submit details on alternate power supplies. [CFC <br />§913.2.3 and Redwood City Code of Ordinances §12.19] <br /> <br />Fire Pump: Alternate Power Source (When a fire pump is required). Notwithstanding the availability of a public utility <br />to provide electric service for a fire pump, provide on plans electrically driven fire pumps with an alternate source of <br />power in accordance with NFPA 20 due to foreseeable extended electrical service interruptions along the California <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance
