Diesel pump rooms, generator rooms with gas tanks, and trash rooms with hydraulic trash compactors must <br />be classified as special hazard areas and provided with additional fire protection systems as required for hazardous <br />occupancies per CFC 901.4.5. <br />F13 Fire Alarm System. A fully addressable fire alarm system is required to be installed throughout the building, <br />and in compliance with the building permit date contemporary edition NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and <br />Signaling Code. The fire alarm system must also be supervised by an Underwriters Laboratories certified central <br />station monitoring service. Provide plans and calculations in accordance with NFPA 72 Chapter 7 <br />Documentation as a deferred submittal for the design of the fire alarm system and identify the company <br />providing supervising services. <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F14 Premise Identification – Address Numbers. All buildings must be provided with address identification that is <br />legible and placed in a position that is visible from the street or road facing the street from which the building <br />takes the address, numbers to be a minimum size of 12-inches in height, with contrasting background, and all <br />address numbers to be illuminated and visible from the street during darkness. [CFC § 505.1 and City of <br />Redwood City Code, Ordinances §9.48] <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F15 Elevator Car to Accommodate Ambulance Stretcher – All buildings with one or more passenger service <br />elevators must be provided with not less than one medical emergency service elevator to all landings meeting <br />the provisions of CBC Section 3002.4a. <br />Prior to Building <br />Permit Issuance <br />F16 Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS). Provide either an engineering analysis that two-way <br />coverage at a minimum inbound and outbound signal strength not less than a Delivered Audio Quality of 3.0 or an <br />equivalent Signal-to-Interface-Noise-Ratio will be achieved in 95% of the completed building or note on the plans an <br />Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) will be provided as a deferred submittal. Regardless of the <br />engineering analysis results, if the constructed building cannot meet the minimum inbound and outbound signal <br />strength an ERRCS shall be installed prior to occupancy. The room or cabinet shall measure not less than 8-feet by 6-feet and shall be stocked with the required items <br />(see list at www.redwoodcity.org/departments/fire-department/fire-prevention/inspections-and-permits).
