The canvassing team included both native English and Spanish speakers and all handouts <br />were provided in English and Spanish. (August 21, 2025) <br />Speaker Series – This two-part speaker series explored concepts central to the GDAP and provided <br />members of the public opportunities to ask questions and engage with the experts in the field. <br />Spanish language interpretation was available at both panels. <br />o Speaker Panel #1 “Designing Downtown: Strategies for Sustaining and Building on <br />Redwood City’s Success” was attended by approximately 30 participants and explored <br />how public spaces, buildings, transportation, businesses, and climate resilience must <br />work together to create a vibrant, inclusive downtown. (August 27, 2025) <br />o Speaker Panel #2 “Downtown Resilience in a Changing Climate” was attended by <br />approximately 30 participants and explored how integrating resilience with land use, <br />transportation networks, economic policies, and adaptation strategies can help to build a <br />safe, sustainable, beautiful, and thriving city. To view the video of the Panel, click here. <br />(September 4, 2025) <br />o Redwood Creek Guided Tour – Speaker Panel #2 was preceded by a walking tour of <br />Redwood Creek for the public led by members of City staff and the project team. The tour <br />highlighted aspects of the City’s existing proposal to transform the Creek into a <br />community recreational amenity that also supports Downtown climate resilience and <br />GDAP goals. It was attended by approximately 22 participants. <br />Next Steps & Looking Ahead <br />The GDAP draft Vision Framework was originally scheduled to be presented to City Council at its <br />November 10, 2025, hearing; however, due to the Council’s full end-of-the-year agenda, the study session <br />was rescheduled to January 12, 2026. Following the City Council study session, the project team will refine <br />the Vision Framework in response to feedback we have received from the community, stakeholders, BCCs, <br />and City Council, and will develop the ideas and concepts from the Framework in greater detail. Along the <br />way, we will return to BCCs feedback at strategic points, aiming to have a Preferred Plan Framework for <br />public review and City Council endorsement in fall 2026. Drafting of the plan policies, implementation <br />strategies, and the environmental review document will take 12-18 months, wrapping up for City Council <br />action in late 2027 or early 2028.
