REV: 12-03-25 LR
Task 2.3 – Topographic Survey, Surveys, and Mapping
Consultant shall work with topographic survey subconsultant to provide a boundary and
topographic survey within the project limits. The ground survey shall include all pertinent
features above and below ground surface and shall be on the NAD83 and NAVD88 datum. The
scope of the topographic survey shall include elevation features, utility dips, site features, and
boundary information.
Survey Control
The topographic survey subconsultant shall utilize City approved NAD83, California State Plane
horizontal coordinates and NAVD88 vertical controls, or any City preferred datum as the basis of
the survey. The topographic survey subconsultant shall research nearby controls and perform
measurements and adjustments of all benchmarks and controls used for the project. And shall
set durable control points along the project to be preserved for utilization of surveys, future
phases of the project and for future construction control.
Topographic Surveying and Base Mapping
By means of conventional survey methods, topographic survey subconsultant shall perform
design level (non-aerial) topographic surveying and mapping at all intersections lying along the
project corridor, including the full intersections of 5th Avenue and 15th Avenue. The topographic
survey subconsultant shall also perform topographic surveys and mapping along the full corridor
between the intersections.
The width of the survey shall cover the full right-of-way and approximately 5 feet beyond where
accessible and 50 feet along all side streets. Items to locate shall include curbs, gutters, sidewalks,
pathways, pavement, striping, fences, walls, trees, driveways, signs, poles, signals, valves, vaults,
meters, hydrants, inlets, manholes and all visible utilities and features, including any USA
markings (to be coordinated by design or geotech team). The topographic survey subconsultant
shall perform detailed topographic surveys of curb ramps at all intersections and shall locate curb
ramp details such as sidewalk, ramps, landings, expansion joints, curbs, gutters, lip of gutter,
pavement cross slopes for conform, signals, boxes, poles, and other visible features. The
topographic survey subconsultant shall perform measure downs to inlets and manholes that are
in the intersection project footprints for invert elevation, pipe size and flow direction, including
upstream and downstream structures. All topographic features shall be mapped in AutoCAD
format to include full mapping, 1’ contours and 3D surface.
Boundary and Right-of-Way Mapping
The topographic survey subconsultant shall research record of surveys, parcel maps, subdivision
maps, roadway maps, corner record cards, deeds and other recorded information to map the
ATTY/AGR.2025.333/Kimley-Horn (Bay Road Complete Streets) (Page 15 of 50)
