<br /> PART I, Page | 14 <br />ecological systems by limiting exposure to harmful substances and restoring <br />damaged environments. <br /> <br />➢ PPA 4: Program Expectations <br />Environmental impact projects should: <br />• Prevent or reduce exposure to hazardous materials associated with illicit <br />cannabis operations. <br />• Protect natural resources, including water, soil, air, and wildlife . <br />• Improve environmental monitoring, remediation, and compliance. <br />• Support community health and safety through environmental hazard <br />mitigation. <br />• Ensure activities are science-based, culturally informed, and responsive to <br />local environmental conditions. <br /> <br />➢ PPA 4: Allowable Uses of Funds <br />Activities may include, but are not limited to: <br />• Environmental Monitoring and Mitigation <br />- Sediment, soil, or water testing <br />- Pesticide impact assessments and mitigation <br />- Odor abatement and nuisance abatement efforts <br />- Aquatic protections and watershed restoration <br />• Hazardous Materials and Cleanup <br />- Hazardous waste cleanup at illicit cultivation or processing sites <br />- Removal of chemicals, fertilizers, fuel, or other contaminants <br />- Remediation of environmental damage caused by illegal cannabis activity <br />• Infrastructure and Resource Protection <br />- Water system and water storage improvements <br />- Fire protection, fuel mitigation, and wildland/urban interface planning <br />- Technology or software supporting environmental monitoring or <br />compliance <br />• Regulatory and Compliance Activities <br />- Cultivation related code enforcement <br />- Environmental inspections and compliance checks <br />- Coordination with environmental health, forestry, or natural resource <br />agencies <br /> <br />➢ PPA 4: Intended Outcomes <br />Projects should demonstrate how activities will: <br />• Reduce environmental harms associated with illicit cannabis operations <br />• Improve community health and safety through environmental protections <br />• Restore or protect natural resources and ecosystems <br />7.C. - Page 22 of 101 <br />81
