Equipment Type: 37mm Less Lethal Launcher - CA Gov’t Code §7070(c)(14) <br />Equipment: Defense Technology 37mm Launcher <br />Quantity Owned/Sought: 2 owned Lifespan: Approximately 15 years <br />Equipment Capabilities: The 37mm Less Lethal Launcher is capable of firing 37mm <br />Munitions. <br />Manufacturer Product Description: These models are no longer in production. <br />Purpose/Authorized Uses: The 37mm is no longer in service for duty use. These models <br />are used for training purposes only. <br />Fiscal Impacts: Unknown what the original cost was. No ongoing cost. <br />Legal/Procedural Rules Governing Use: All applicable State, Federal and Local laws <br />governing police use of force. Various Redwood City Police Department Policies on Use of <br />Force and Crowd Control. <br />Training Required: Officers providing training with these devices are POST certified. <br />Other Notes: These launchers are obsolete having been replaced by the 40mm launchers <br />but are still used for training as they are similar in operation and effect to the 40mm. They will <br />be used in this training only capacity until all 37mm ammunition in inventory has been <br />expended, after which the launchers will be destroyed. <br />REV: 04-07-26 VR
