The landlord either paid relocation assistance equal to one month of
the tenant’s rent ($2,500) within 15 days of providing the notice of
termination or waived the last months’ rent in writing.

iv. The tenant applied and qualified as an Eligible Residential Household
which means they are eligible for relocation assistance equal to 3
months of Fair Market Rent (FMR):

v. 3 months X $2,977 (2025 FMR for one bedroom unit) = $8,913

vi. Since the landlord has already paid relocation assistance or waived
rent equal to $2,500, that amount is deducted from the $8,913 the
tenant is owed:

vii. $8,913 - $2,500 = $6,431

viii. In this example, the landlord would still owe the tenant $6,431

ix. This remaining $6,451 payment must be made as a direct payment to
the tenant on or before the tenant’s move-out date as listed on the
notice of termination.
5.3 Tenant relocation assistance application process
1. Tenants interested in applying for greater relocation assistance benefits must submit
a relocation assistance application to the City. The relocation application can be
found on the City’s website at www.RedwoodCity.org/TPO under the “Notices and
Forms” section.
2. Relocation application submittal requirements and timeline
a.
