<br />Latino Community Council of Redwood City. The Latino Community Council of Redwood City requests
<br />funding to support Fiestas Patrias 2026, an annual cultural celebration honoring the independence of
<br />Mexico and several Latin American countries, including Nicaragua, El Salvador, Chile, Honduras, Costa
<br />Rica, and Guatemala. Held at Courthouse Square, the free bilingual event features traditional music,
<br />dance, cultural ceremonies, food, and community activities that celebrate the rich heritage and
<br />traditions of the Latino community. The event is expected to attract thousands of attendees and aims
<br />to promote cultural pride, community connection, and broad access to arts and cultural experiences in
<br />Redwood City
<br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $3,800.
<br />Redwood City Library Foundation. The Redwood City Library Foundation requests funding to support
<br />RCPL Celebrates the Art of Latin America, a year-long series of six free public programs showcasing the
<br />diverse artistic traditions and cultural heritage of Latin America. Hosted at the Downtown Library and
<br />neighborhood branches, the series will include hands-on art workshops, author visits, cultural
<br />celebrations, musical performances, and presentations designed to engage multigenerational
<br />audiences. The project aims to expand access to arts and cultural experiences, celebrate the diversity
<br />of Redwood City’s residents, and foster community dialogue and appreciation through bilingual and
<br />culturally inclusive programming.
<br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $4,150.
<br />Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation. The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation requests
<br />funding to support the 2027 OYE Latinx Youth Conference, a free one-day event at Cañada College
<br />celebrating its 15th anniversary and bringing together youth, young adults, and families to explore
<br />culture, identity, leadership, and community. The conference features workshops, performances,
<br />artistic expression, inspirational speakers, and cultural activities designed to empower participants and
<br />foster resilience, connection, and pride in Latinx heritage. Expected to serve more than 500 attendees,
<br />the event aims to engage youth through arts and cultural experiences while promoting diversity,
<br />equity, and community belonging.
<br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $4,400.
<br />Redwood High School. Redwood High School requests funding to support the Redwood High School
<br />Mural Project, a collaborative public art initiative that will engage students, educators, and local artist
<br />Castro in the design and creation of a large-scale mural on the school’s central two-story elevator
<br />tower. Through workshops and hands-on participation, students will explore the history and cultural
<br />significance of muralism while contributing to an artwork that reflects the diverse identities and
<br />experiences of the school community, including Latino, Black, and Pacific Islander students. The
<br />completed mural will serve as a permanent, publicly accessible symbol of creativity, cultural pride, and
<br />community connection while expanding arts education opportunities for youth.
<br />Funding Requested: $6,000 Funding Recommended: $3,500.
<br />Redwood Symphony. Redwood Symphony requests funding to support Norwegian Redwood, a
<br />collaborative concert with the White Album Ensemble celebrating the music of the Beatles through
