May provide lead supervision to Deputy City <br />Attorneys, and direct or indirect supervision of administrative support staff as well as <br />outside counsel. <br /> <br />Senior Assistant City Attorney <br /> <br />Direction is provided by the City Attorney. May provide lead supervision of Assistant City <br />Attorneys, and direct or indirect supervision of Deputy City Attorneys, administrative <br />support staff, and/or outside counsel. <br /> <br />Chief Assistant City Attorney <br /> <br />Direction is provided by the City Attorney. May provide direct or indirect supervision of <br />Senior Assistant City Attorneys, Assistant City Attorneys, and Deputy City Attorneys, <br />administrative support staff, and/or outside counsel. <br /> <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> <br />1. Under direction of City Attorney, act as staff counsel in City legal matters. <br /> <br />1. Act as senior counsel in handling serious, controversial and complex legal matters. <br /> <br />2. Represent the City Attorney at City Council and other board, commission, or <br />committee meetings and/or events as required, and render legal advice on agenda <br />items. <br /> <br />3. Confer with department heads concerning legal issues; make appropriate decisions <br />or recommendations. <br /> <br />4. Research legal problems and prepare opinions, ordinances, resolutions, contract, <br />leases and permits and other legal documents. <br /> <br />5. Prepare or review drafts and assists in the negotiations of proposed agreements. <br /> <br />6. Coordinate City activities with other governmental agencies and outside <br />organizations. <br /> <br />7.
