CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />DEPUTY BUILDING OFFICIAL (Continued) <br />2 <br />•Reliably travel to/from City Hall to job sites as necessary. <br />•Serve as acting Building Official as needed and as a rotating backup for Senior <br />Building Inspectors. <br />•Assist in Citywide safety and emergency response operations and planning. <br />•Assist with documentation for ISO BCEGS insurance rating. <br />•May perform and supervise complex plan reviews for compliance with structural, <br />fire, energy, accessibility, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes. <br />•Spot-check work performed by contracted plan reviewers and validate consultant <br />billings. <br />•Supervise inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial construction for <br />code compliance. <br />•Resolve field conflicts and support Building Inspectors with technically complex <br />or unique situations. <br />•Oversee and improve processes for permit intake, issuance, tracking, and <br />inspection scheduling. <br />•Participate in the implementation and optimization of permitting software (e.g., <br />ComDev) and sustainability compliance platforms (e.g., Green Halo). <br />•Provide high-level customer service by assisting property owners, developers, <br />architects, engineers, and contractors with technical inquiries. <br />•Respond to complex inquiries in person, by phone, and via written <br />communication. <br />•Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics related to turnaround times <br />and service delivery. <br />•Develop, revise, and publish detailed checklists and supplemental forms for <br />various project types. <br />•Ensure checklists, forms, and submittal requirements are accessible both online <br />and at the permit counter. <br />•Assist with developing and implementing new policies, procedures, and internal <br />workflows to improve division efficiency. <br />•Research, draft staff reports, and assist with the adoption and rollout of new local <br />and state codes <br />•Conduct training sessions for staff and stakeholders on new regulations, internal <br />procedures, and building code changes. <br />•Assist in the preparation and administration of the Building Division budget. <br />•Prepare and present detailed reports, memos, and correspondence for internal <br />and external stakeholders. <br />•Perform related duties as assigned. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />ATTY/RESO.0050/CC RESO CLASSIFICATION AND WAGE AND SALARY PLAN (CAO, PD, AND BLDG DEPARTMENT POSITIONS) - EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 07-17-26 ET <br /> <br />Page 3 of 17
