CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />DEPUTY BUILDING OFFICIAL (Continued) <br />3 <br />•California Building Code, Residential Code, Green Building Standards, Energy Code, <br />International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) and related local/state regulations. <br />•Building construction methods, materials, and structural principles. <br />•Principles of structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems. <br />•Public sector permitting processes and construction project lifecycles. <br />•Knowledge of Code Enforcement principles. <br />•Principles of supervision, training, performance evaluation, and customer service. <br />Ability to: <br />•Analyze complex construction documents and ensure compliance with applicable <br />codes and regulations. <br />•Effectively supervise and support a multidisciplinary team. <br />•Respond to after hours, weekend, or emergency call outs. <br />•Assist the City, and other local jurisdictions during natural disaster emergencies. <br />•Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. <br />•Manage and improve operational workflows and performance metrics. <br />•Exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism under pressure. <br />•Interact diplomatically with a wide range of stakeholders, including developers, <br />design professionals, contractors, City staff, and community members. <br />EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION <br />Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required <br />knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and <br />abilities would be: <br />Experience: <br />Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building inspections, permit <br />center operations, and/or plan checking, including supervisory experience. <br />Education: <br />Bachelor’s Degree in structural engineering, architecture, construction <br />management, or a related field is highly desirable. <br />Additionally, possession of the following is required: <br />License or Certificate: <br />1.Possession of one of the following: <br />▪ICC Combination Residential Building Inspector Certification (B1, <br />P1, M1, E1), or <br />▪ICC Combination Commercial Building Inspector Certification (B2, <br />P2, M2, E2), or <br />▪ICC Combination Residential and Commercial Plans Examiner <br />Certification (R3 and B3) <br />ATTY/RESO.0050/CC RESO CLASSIFICATION AND WAGE AND SALARY PLAN (CAO, PD, AND BLDG DEPARTMENT POSITIONS) - EXHIBIT A <br />REV: 07-17-26 ET <br /> <br />Page 4 of 17
