Learn why this isimportant <br />Dear Mayor Martinez Saballos and Members of the Redwood City City Council, <br />As a Redwood City rental housing provider, I am writing to ask you to formally oppose the <br />rent and eviction control measure on the November ballot and to submit a ballot argument <br />against it. <br />The city’s own supplemental analysis indicates this measure could cost between $5 million <br />and $11.1 million annually to administer, far exceeding the specified fees. The actual per-unit <br />costs could reach approximately $756 per year. Rent control accounts for less than two pages <br />of this 46-page initiative; the remainder establishes a permanent city bureaucracy and expands <br />eviction and relocation mandates to housing well beyond rent-controlled units. <br />The housing providers most affected by this measure are long-term, small "mom and pop" <br />owners and affordable housing operators of older buildings, rather than large corporate <br />landlords.
