PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.01 EQUIPMENT

A. Provide five (5) complete vertical turbine pumping units and associated appurtenant
equipment and accessories, including motors, in conformance with the approved
shop drawing submittals and as specified herein (Tag Numbers MP-1, MP-2, MP-3,
MP-4, and MP-5).

2.02 PROTECTIVE COATINGS

A. Upon delivery, the coatings and linings of each pumping unit will be inspected for
damage. The pump manufacturer shall correct damage to the lining or coating to
the satisfaction of the City and its Engineer if in its opinion it is repairable. The
pump manufacturer may be required to return the equipment to the factory for
recoating if the lining or coating is determined to be damaged beyond a point where
acceptable repairs can be accomplished in the field.

2.03 EXISTING SUCTION BARRELS:

A. Suction barrels for the Main Pumps are existing (refer to the shop drawing in
Attachment A). Based on preliminary measurements, the pump mounting flanges of
all five (5) existing barrels appear to exceed the pump manufacturer's maximum
allowable tolerance for level. The preliminary measurements are listed in the
following table.

Preliminary Pump Mounting Flange Level Measurements
Relative to 18" Suction
Orientation MP-1 MP-2 MP-3 MP-4 MP-5
Parallel 0.020 0.004 0.012 0.004 0.006
Perpendicular 0.012 0.041 0.004 0.012 0.045

Note: units are inches per inch out of level across the top of the flange, as
measured in 2 directions with orientation as noted in the table.

B. The Contractor, under separate contract, will be responsible to ensure the installed
pumps meet the pump manufacturer's tolerances, standards, and requirements for
alignment and level within the existing suction barrels:
1. Under a separate contract, the Contractor will machine the mounting surface of
all five (5) suction barrels in the field to less than 0.0020 inches per foot of true
level. The Contractor will repair the barrel coating and lining system.
2. Prior to installation of the pumps, the Contractor will submit a milling report to
the pump manufacturer for review. The pump manufacturer shall verify that all
five (5) mounting flanges are within the manufacturer's acceptable tolerance for
level, and that all five (5) existing barrels are acceptable and ready for pump
installation. If any non-conformance is noted, it shall be submitted to the
Contractor in writing, and the Contractor will be responsible for making
corrections as required until the pump manufacturer's requirements are
satisfied.
