If so, list the specific project as defined in Attachment A Unbuilt
Regional Bikeway Network Links. How does the project overcome a gap or barrier in
the bicycle system network? Explain:

The proposed project consists of an unbuilt portion of the Regional Bikeway Network.
This portion is also part of the Bay Trail. project SM-27. This unbuilt portion currently is
an unimproved levee trail that provides bicycle and pedestrian access from Whipple Ave.
to Bair Island Road. The project is about ~ mile (2..640 ft.) in length. The Bair Island
Bay Trail Improvement provides gap closure from the U.S. 101 auxiliary lane bike path
(Class D. which terminates at Whipple Ave.. to the existing bike lanes of Barr Island
Road (Class II). This trail provides an alternate route from the Bayshore Commercial
area and separates cyclist from motorists. This project facilitates community access and
connections by creating improved access from surrounding residential areas. and by
linking an existing safe parking lot for cyclists who drive to this section of the Bay Trail
and for recreational users of the Bait Island Wildlife Refuge.

ACCESS

Access is provided to destination: School

Regional Transit

Regional Activity Center/Business District

Connection across County linelbarrier

Located in a Priority Development Area (PDA)
