Fractions of one-half hour worked at different <br />times may not be added together for the purpose of computing <br />overtime work." <br />4. Section 2 of Rule XIII of the Personnel Rules and Regulations <br />of the City of Redwood City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"section 2. sick Leave: (a) sick leave means the <br />absence from duty of an employee because of illness, bodily <br />injury, exposure to contagious disease (when any such <br />disabilities are not covered by workmen's compensation <br />insurance, or the provisions of Rule XIII, ~4, or both,), <br />attendance upon members of the family whose illness requires <br />the care of such employee, or death in the immediate family <br />of the employee. (See Rule II, ~l5, for definition of <br />immediate family.) <br />"(b) sick leave with pay shall be granted to all <br />permanent employees, except as hereinafter provided, at the <br />rate of one working day (eight hours) for each full calendar <br />month of service. At the time of certification to permanent <br />status, an employee shall be credited with six days (48 hours) <br />sick leave and shallhaccumulate sick leave thereafter at <br />the rate of one day (eight hours) of sick leave for each <br />full calendar month of service. Police officers, firemen <br />and assistant bu~lding inspectors shall be credited with <br />sick leave upon completion of six months of employment and <br />shall be credited with one working day (eight hours) of <br />sick leave for each calendar month of service for the <br />remainder of their respective probationary periods.
