Ms. Claudia OlaIla
May 11, 2010
Page2of3 FMK
3kRk3.Vt3'43A£JCY t.fsK5u L3 %hf$.
Specifically, we will address the following points:
1. Revise designs to eliminate right -turn slip lanes for all options and investigate the possibility of adding
pedestrian extensions at some corners to reduce crossing distances.
2. Revise all options to show the specific crosswalk locations as well as existing bike lanes.
3. Provide separate pedestrian mode information for illegal crossings compared to total number of
crossings of Woodside Road. This information was originally presented in a combined format in Table 2
of the April 2, 2009 technical memorandum.
4. Analyze intersection operations for a variation of Option B to include a crosswalk on the west leg of the
Y P p g
intersection without split signal phasing and adding protected left -turns phases.
5. Revise the intersection level of service analysis to reflect any changes in the pedestrian crossing
distances and report change in average vehicle delay for each option.
6. Eliminate the jogged median pedestrian refuge on Woodside Road under Option P and evaluate a
variation of Option P that includes no median refuge. We will review this option with city staff to
determine feasibility before incorporation in the memorandum.
7. Perform turning template analysis for large trucks that may make turning movements through the
intersection under all nine (9) options. The tracking lines will be presented in a graphical format for the
options.
8. Calculate queue lengths for all turning movements at the intersection for all nine (9) options.
9. Present the existing configuration of the intersection in the revised memorandum.
10. Documentation — The results of the analysis will be summarized in a draft memorandum and submitted
to city staff. Assuming no additional technical analysis is required, we will respond to up to two rounds of
comments from the City and /or Caltrans. We have assumed a total of 8 hours to respond to all
comments that do not include additional technical analysis. If additional technical analysis is required,
we will need to augment our budget. We will also provide city staff with the electronic files for all the
graphics that provide the conceptual plans identified in the nine options.
11. Prepare poster board graphics for meeting with Caltrans of each of the nine options.
12. Preparation and attendance at one (1) meeting with city staff in Redwood City.
13. Preparation and attendance at one (1) meeting with Caltrans staff in Oakland.
Optional Tasks
14. Preparation and attendance at one (1) additional meeting with city staff in Redwood City. The cost for
this additional meeting would be $1,500.
15. Preparation and attendance at one (1) additional meeting with Caltrans staff in Oakland. The cost for
this additional meeting would be $2,000.
16. Identify the potential for signal pole and box relocation for each of the nine (9) options. This task could
potentially be completed by city staff. This project is a conceptual planning project and this task could be
done at a later date when design documents are completed for this project. The cost for this additional
task would be $900.
