SA -15 <br />The Mission of the collaborative partnership between SAMCEDA, the County, Redwood City, <br />and the Community College District will further develop and implement a countywide strategic <br />plan (vision) for retaining, expanding and locating businesses within San Mateo Countythrough <br />coordinated, collaborative efforts between the private and public sectors. This coordinated <br />approach will enhance the current level of economic development activities within Redwood <br />City, and will deliberately focus on the needs of low and very low- income households. <br />The City s intent is to facilitate the development of support services including child care and <br />affordable housing to help residents desiring to commit to small business creation, or job <br />training and development under the self sufficiency model. <br />Activities: <br />• Technical Assistance Programs to Micro - business enterprises <br />• Business Incubators <br />• Small Business Development Programs <br />• Job Training and Job Development Programs leading directly to employment <br />• Financial assistance to for - profit entities providing jobs to low income persons <br />• Business promotion efforts <br />Small business development and job training programs through local community college, <br />vocational programs, and non - profit organizations will target low income persons requiring <br />immediate job skills or skills enhancement. The programs will be short term in nature intended <br />to put people to work after training periods as short as five months. This project is a partnership <br />between the City, the Redevelopment Agency, the College District, and service organizations <br />who will ultimately screen and refer the project beneficiaries. <br />PERFORMANCE OF 5 YEAR CONSOLIDATED PLAN GOALS <br />To help achieve the priorities adopted, the City will take other actions toward meeting its <br />housing priorities. During the review of the City's Housing Element, the Council committed to: <br />1.
