He stated that he would like all the employees to be considered for <br />the housing and rental program. <br />Human Resources Director Rivera -Pena responded that some of the cities are <br />Burlingame, Colma, South San Francisco, Foster City, Hayward, Alameda and <br />Berkeley. <br />City Manager Everett also stated that there is a program for first time homebuyers <br />that provides $100,000.00 be granted to them if qualified. <br />Council discussion ensued pertaining to the rental element of the program. <br />M/S Hartnett/Howard to approve the Department Head Housing Assistance <br />Program as a temporary program to be applicable to the current Fire Chief <br />recruitment with the elimination of the rental housing assistance component. The <br />motion passed by a unanimous voice vote by those present. <br />MINUTE ORDER 03 -99 <br />B. Woodside Road Widening Update <br />Manager, Engineering and Construction Patterson explained the background as <br />starting when the Woodside Technology Office Park and Midpoint Technology <br />Park changed the land use in the area and adding considerably to the traffic on <br />that road. At that time, it was recommended that widening of Woodside Road <br />might mitigate the traffic around those two projects. He further explained the <br />alternatives and the recommendation to approve Alternative #4, which is to leave <br />Woodside Road as it is, try to do additional landscaping and improving the <br />Broadway intersection is the best alternative at this time. <br />Council comments and questions ensued. <br />M/S Ruskin /Ira to direct staff to look into traffic improvements for the intersection of <br />Broadway and Woodside Road, and provide new landscaping for the remainder of <br />Woodside Road (Alternative #4).
