A. Legislation (information only) - This sub - section involves possible discussion of <br />City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California Cities <br />Priority Focus Bulletins No. 19 -2003 and 20 -2003. Council may direct staff to act <br />,on _ positions taken byiQouncil. (Copies of League of California Cities Priority Focus <br />available in City Clerk's.Department.) <br />B. Resolution supporting Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District Proposal <br />to extend its boundaries to the coast <br />Council Member Howard stated that Council Members were approached regarding <br />this proposal to extend boundaries to a portion of San Mateo County coastline. <br />Council Member Pierce stated that there is currently a large amount of open space <br />managed by Midpeninsula and this would bring in the coast side from the ocean to <br />Skyline Boulevard and south of Pescadero to the Santa Cruz mountains. This <br />involves no financial expansion in regards to taxing. <br />City Manager Everett stated that eminent domain is not to be used in this area and <br />for Redwood City, the most important element is that Midpeninsula holds a lot of <br />credibility in providing open space for residents' use. <br />Public Comment: <br />Maria Diaz - Vivian supported the resolution and stated that in pursuing purchase of <br />property in the Banana Belt, some things she likes in the proposal is that it <br />provides public access and preserves the ocean view. <br />Craig Britton, General Vanager of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, <br />stated that the District has never transferred any property to State or Federal <br />Government and actually manage property of the State or Federal Government. <br />M/S Ruskin /Ira to ADOPT RESOLUTION 14531 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />REDWOOD CITY SUPPORTING AND ENDORSING THE MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL <br />OPEN SPACE DISTRICT'S PROPOSED EXTENSION OF ITS BOUNDARIES TO THE <br />SAN MATEO COUNTY COAST TO PRESERVE OPEN SPACE AND AGRICULTURAL <br />LANDS <br />The motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br />C. Ad Hoc Committee on Boards, Committees, and Commissions Selection <br />Process <br />Consensus by Council was to use the suggested selection process as presented <br />by the ad hoc committee.
