4 <br /> SECTION 5. Section 8 of said Ordinance No. 339 is hereby <br /> amended to read as follows : <br /> "SECTION 8. CONTRACT FOR COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL. The <br /> collection, removal and disposal of all garbage, rubbish <br /> and waste matter may be performed by the Department of <br /> Public Service or its authorized representatives, and no <br /> other person, firm or corporation shall engage in the <br /> business of collection, removal and disposal of garbage, <br /> rubbish and waste matter unless licensed so to do by the <br /> City Council of Redwood City. <br /> The City Council may let contracts or enter into agree- <br /> ments with any person, firm or corporation for the removal <br /> of garbage, rubbish or waste matter and for this purpose <br /> may license such person, firm or corporation. Each such <br /> licensee shall give a bond payable to the City of Redwood <br /> City in the sum of one thousand dollars (51,000) conditioned <br /> for the faithful performance of the duties imposed by this <br /> Ordinance and the terms of any contract or agreement entered <br /> into with the City of Redwood City. <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation <br /> to remove or convey or to cause or permit to be removed or <br /> conveyed any garbage upon or along any public street or alley <br /> or other public place in the City of Redwood City, provided, <br /> however, that the provisions of this section shall not apply <br /> to any person in the employ of the City of Redwood City, who <br /> shall be assigned by the Department of Public Service to <br /> the work of garbage removal, or to any person, firm or cor- <br /> poration with whom the City of Redwood City has entered into <br /> a contract for the collection and removal of garbage, or to <br /> any employee of such contractor during such time as such <br /> contract is in force, or to any person, firm or corporation <br /> hauling garbage, rubbish or waste matter owned and created <br /> - 7 - <br />
