• <br /> who has met the following qualifications during the <br /> immediately preceding fiscal year shall, in addition to <br /> all other compensation, be paid monthly a sum equal to <br /> 5 per cent of his basic monthly salary. To qualify, such <br /> employee shall have: <br /> "(1) been awarded the Advanced Certificate by <br /> the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards <br /> and Training in said preceding fiscal year or at any <br /> time prior thereto; and either <br /> "(2) successfully completed (with a grade of C, <br /> or equivalent, or higher) three semester or four quarter <br /> units of college -level courses approved by the Chief <br /> of Police as :of - substantial benef it to ' such employee' s <br /> education as a professional' peace officer; or, <br /> "(3) successfully completed a minimum of 60 <br /> hours of in- service training recognized as such by <br /> the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards <br /> and Training. <br /> • "(d) The Chief of Police may establish such standards <br /> and criteria, and enact such departmental rules and regula- <br /> tions and policies as are necessary or appropriate to <br /> implement the provisions of this section." <br /> 6. Section 13 is hereby added to Rule X of the Personnel <br /> Rules and Regulations of the City of Redwood City to read as <br /> follows: <br /> "Section 13. Part -Time Appointment. Part -time appoint- <br /> ments may be made to meet requirements for regular and <br /> continuous work loads, but not requiring full time permanent <br /> employees. • <br /> "Benefits, including life insurance, health insurance, <br /> vacations, and sick leave, shall not be granted, nor accrue <br /> to a part -time appointee; provided, however, that from and - -- - <br /> after January 1, 1971, a part -time appointee who has worked <br /> more than 1040 hours and not less than six months in any <br /> 12 month period shall thereafter be granted the same life <br /> insurance benefits as full time permanent employees, and <br /> shall thereafter accrue vacation and sick leave benefits <br /> at 50 per cent of the rate of accrual of such benefits for <br /> full time permanent employees; provided, further, that no <br /> vacation and sick leave benefits shall be credited to such <br /> an appointee for time worked prior to the aforesaid com- <br /> pletion of 1040 hours and minimum six months worked in any <br /> 12 month period." <br /> 7. Payments or compensation to be made pursuant to the <br /> provisions of the amendments or enactments herein shall be subject <br /> to the condition precedent that sufficient funds have been duly <br /> appropriated therefor in each fiscal year. <br /> -5- <br />
