D. Refer to Section 02133 (Stormwater Pollution Prevention) for more particulars on how to address <br /> pollution issues. <br /> 1.19 SAFETY <br /> A. Contractor, before beginning construction, is to provide, maintain and remove upon completion of work all <br /> barricades around openings and excavations, fences around areas and other temporary construction, <br /> warning signals, signs, and flagmen as required to direct traffic through the work area and or to redirect <br /> traffic to detours. <br /> B. The temporary work shall conform to all requirements of State and Local Authorities, and of the <br /> Underwriters in regard to operation, safety, and fire hazards. The Contractor shall furnish and complete <br /> all items necessary for such construction and for conformity with such requirements whether or not called <br /> for under the separate divisions of these specifications. <br /> C. Contractor agrees that he will assume sole and complete responsibility for job site conditions during the <br /> course of construction of this project, including safety of all persons and property; that this requirement <br /> shall apply continuously and not be limited to normal working hours: <br /> 1.20 PROGRESS CLEANING <br /> A. Not Applicable. <br /> 1.21 FINAL CLEANING <br /> A. Contractor shall execute final cleaning prior to final inspection, using only properly skilled workers. <br /> B. Remove grease, dust, dirt, stains, labels, fingerprints, and other foreign materials from exposed interior <br /> and exterior finished surfaces. <br /> C. Repair, patch, and touch up marred surfaces to match adjacent finishes. <br /> D. Clean interior and exterior surfaces exposed to view; remove temporary labels, stains and foreign <br /> substances, polish transparent and glossy surfaces, vacuum carpeted and soft surfaces. <br /> E. Clean equipment and fixtures to a sanitary condition, clean or replace filters of mechanical equipment <br /> operated during construction, clean ducts, blowers and coils of units operated without filters during <br /> construction. <br /> F. Clean Site; mechanically sweep paved areas. <br /> G. Remove waste and surplus materials, rubbish, and construction facilities from Site. <br /> 1.22 RESPONSIBILITY FOR UNDERGROUND FACILITIES AND OVERHEAD PG &E LINES <br /> ttention of 1 ers is specifically - directed tote response i ity or - the care drTd protection of previous y <br /> installed underground facilities and overhead electrical lines including storm drains, sanitary sewers, <br /> water mains, utility ducts, and appurtenant structures underlying the roadway improvements and <br /> overhead utility lines to be constructed. <br /> B. Contractor shall be solely responsible for the protection and care of such facilities. Any damage to such <br /> facilities discovered during the course of the work and/or final inspection of the work shall be repaired or <br /> replaced by Contractor to the satisfaction of the City Engineer at no additional expense to the contract <br /> prior to acceptance of the work. <br /> C. All existing underground utilities and improvements are not necessarily shown on the plan. The <br /> Contractor shall notify utility companies at least two (2) working days in advance of construction to field <br /> locate utilities. Call Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) at 1 -800- 642 -2444. It shall be the responsibility <br /> of the Contractor to determine the existence and location of existing utilities.
