T13 <br />volunteers, technical assistance on volunteer management, and marketing of <br />volunteer needs in Redwood City. <br />DISABLED <br />The Center for Independence of the Disabled (CID) <br />CID offers a variety of services including: Client assistance program; housing <br />accessibility modification; financial benefits counseling; information and referral; <br />community education and outreach; advocacy; Shopping Assistance for <br />Someone who is Homebound (SASH); and volunteers in money management. <br />$8,000 was requested to help CID provide their overall programs to Redwood <br />City residents. <br />Kainos Home and Traininq Center <br />The mission of Kainos is to enable adults with developmental disabilities to <br />maximize their potential as active, contributing members of their community. <br />This agency offers individualized training addressing the specific needs of each <br />of their clients. The residential homes represent progressive levels of <br />independence in fundamental living skills, and clients range from adults with <br />multiple disabilities to those who have progressed to live and work on their own <br />with only a minimum of supervision. $12,000 was requested to support the Adult <br />Beginnings Residential Home, a home to ten adults with multiple developmental <br />disabilities. <br />SENIORS <br />Casa de Redwood <br />Provides low income elderly persons with housing facilities and services <br />designed to meet their physical, social, and psychological needs and to promote <br />their health, security, happiness, and usefulness. The Better Living for Seniors <br />program provides educational, social and recreational activities to enhance <br />senior's lives. The program includes English as a second language classes, <br />exercise classes, and trips to the museum, zoo, and theatres. $7,500 was <br />requested to support the Better Living for Seniors program. <br />Family Service Aaencv — Senior Connections (Adult Comouter Classes), Fair <br />Oaks Interaenerational Center <br />Family Service Agency (FSA) is dedicated to the well -being of individuals, <br />families, and the community. In July 2000, FSA began operation of the Fair <br />Oaks Senior Center located at the City's Fair Oaks Community Center. The <br />Senior Connections program consists of a computer lab and course instruction <br />for seniors age 50 and over. $20,000 was requested to support the provision of <br />free and low -cost weekly classes and lab time. <br />ri <br />
