7. - <br />shall be reinstated to the position from which he or she was promoted unless <br />conditions warrant his or her dismissal. <br />Upon satisfactory completion of such probationary period, the employee shall <br />be appointed to a regular full -time position in that classification. <br />SECTION 12. PROMOTION <br />12.1 Examination <br />In the event the City desires to fill a vacancy by promotion, the Personnel <br />Officer shall prepare and administer an examination for those employees <br />holding similar positions in lower classes. <br />Promotional examinations scheduled by the City during an employee's regular <br />working hours may be taken without any loss in compensation. <br />12.2 Eligible List <br />The names of the successful qualified candidates shall be recorded on an <br />eligible list. Eligible lists shall continue in effect one (1) year after <br />establishment. The name of any person on an eligible list may be removed by <br />the Personnel Office if the eligible person requests in writing that his or her <br />name be removed, or if he or she fails to respond to a written offer of <br />employment within five (5) business days next succeeding the mailing of <br />notice. <br />If a candidate waives an offer of employment the candidate shall be removed <br />from the eligible list. <br />SECTION 13. RESIGNATION <br />An employee wishing to leave the service of the City in good standing shall file with <br />the Police Chief at least two (2) weeks notice of an intention to leave the service <br />unless the Police Chief consents to the employee's leaving sooner. The written <br />resignation shall state the effective date and reasons for leaving. The resignation <br />shall be forwarded to the Personnel Officer, with a statement by the Police Chief as to <br />the resigned employee's service performance and other pertinent information <br />concerning the cause for resignation. <br />242 <br />28 <br />
