r <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> MAY 23, 1955 - 8:00 P.M. <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger, <br /> Paul Jones, William H. Royer, Robert V. Spillers, Hiram S. Stout and Mayor Sidney D. <br /> Herkner. Also present were City Clerk R. S. Dodge, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, <br /> Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Police Chief S. D. Wood, Fire Chief Joseph Lodi, <br /> City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, City Attorney C. B. Currie, City Manager E. A. Rolison, <br /> Fire Marshal_ George Asvos and Police Captain Wm. Faulstich. <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REPORTED ON POLICE BUILDING. Councilman Spillers requested that City <br /> Manager report on whether or not an architect had been selected to draw the plans and <br /> specifications for the building. City Manager stated that they are trying to get esti- <br /> mates from contractors who will give reasonable assurance that a building can be <br /> erected for the $70,000.00 available. As yet no definite estimate has been submitted. <br /> Councilman Spillers presented to the City Clerk letters from Leslie C. Irwin and W. <br /> Newlon Green and George S. Erskine both stating that architectural and engineering <br /> fees would be $4,200.00, and they have contacted contractors who assure that they can <br /> build for the amount available. <br /> Councilman Granger moved that these letters and two others that Councilman Spillers <br /> has be turned over to the City Manager in keeping with the action of the last meeting, <br /> seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. Councilman Spillers moved that this be <br /> carried on the agenda for the next council meeting for report from City Manager, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER REPORT ON WATER MAINS. Report from Water Superintendent Winter indicates <br /> the following program to be paid from funds remaining in the 1951 bond funds: <br /> 1. On El Camino Real, Oak to Boicelli Avenue, 3100 lineal feet of <br /> 12" at $15.00 plus, estimate $46,500. <br /> 2. Mezesville, Middlefield Road, 3600 lineal feet of 12" at <br /> $15.00 plus, estimate 54,000. <br /> 3. Hopkins Avenue, Arch to Allerton, 1700 lineal feet at $15.00 <br /> plus, estimate 25,500. <br /> 4. Finger Avenue, Oakdale to Stafford, 1800 lineal feet at <br /> $10.00 plus, estimate 18,700. <br /> Total cost of all four projects, estimated at $144,700. <br /> Proposed installation of water main on Middlefield, Bradford to north side of Bayshore <br /> to serve the Price Development was discussed. Provisions are being made to furnish a <br /> temporary service through culvert under Bayshore. Bids for the unit No. 1 will be <br /> advertised and opened in the latter part of June. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER reported on the plan lines on Spruce Street as questioned by A. G. Frank, <br /> stating that it was the thought of the committee that a letter be sent to Mr. Frank <br /> advising that the City intends to put Spruce Street through to Bayshore. City Engineer <br /> Jain advised that he had talked with the District Engineer who told him that they are <br /> designing a free -way for the Spruce Street extension. <br /> Councilman Royer moved that the City Attorney be directed to write a letter to A. G. <br /> Frank advising him of the above, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />
