33
COUNCILMAN ROYER reported that the request of the Chamber of Commerce for 65,500.00 operat-
ing expenses be held over to the Budget Study Meeting.
COUNCILMAN ROYER also requested that the application of Mission Trails Association for
4150.00 on 1955 -56 Budget be held over to the Budget Study Meeting.
COUNCILMAN ROYER advised the Council that there is very little mention of Redwood City in
the Mission Trails Association pamphlet and this is due to the fact that the Redwood
City merchants do not advertise in the pamphlet and the City Manager has been re-
quested to contact some of the motels to see why they are not represented.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER REPORT ON RESERVOIR. Councilman Granger reported that the Reservoir
Committee met on May 17th, the following being present: Glenn M. Jain, City Engineer;
Paul Adamson, Cojnsulting Engineer; E. A. Herkner; Mr. Lee of Farm Hills Company, their consulting engineer; Mr. Murphy and
Mr. Fromm, their engineers. The following are facts that were mutally agreed upon by
all:
1. Both sites are of a proper elevation to ride on Hetch - Hetchy lines.
2. Any one site can be made safe and protected from pollution.
3. Both reservoirs may have some leakage.
1 +. Our Engineers think the upper site is preferable but if considerable savings
can be made and health and safety problems can be met, they will go along
with it.
5. It was felt that the Farm Hills Subdivision should come in with additional
studies as to costs of both reservoirs at their own expense, which will be
considered by our City Engineer.
Councilman Granger stated that copies of this report were given to Councilmen Spillers
and Britschgi and the City Manager. Councilman Granger moved that the findings of
the committee be made a part of the minutes, seconded by Councilman Spillers.
Councilman Britschgi mentioned that the Planning Commission will meet tomorrow night
regarding the subdivision map of Farm Hills and suggested that a copy of this report
be given them. Mayor Herkner stated that the Planning Commission is not going to
consider the reservoir site at that meeting. Councilman Granger stated that if they
can't go ahead on top of the hill, then the subdivider might come in with a substitution
of that particular location. Mayor Herkner stated that the Park and Recreation Com-
mission will have a copy of the map.
