Mr. Fogel informed the Council that a petition is being cir- <br /> culated and about 45% so far are in favor of the drainage district and street improve- <br /> ments. After much discussion regarding the drainage into the Kentfield area, Council- <br /> man Britschgi offered RESOLUTION 1875 AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION FOR DRAINAGE EASEMENT <br /> AND WATER LINES and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Royer with the thought in <br /> mind that the City Engineer and City Attorney will contact the people to see if this <br /> can be worked out without condemnation proceedings. City Attorney stated that they <br /> will proceed to file action but would not take a writ of possession without coming to <br /> the Council. Councilman Britschgi suggested that, as a matter of record, the City <br /> Engineer and City Manager be aware od the water situations and make every effort to <br /> keep channels open and keep the water away from Mr. Fogel's property. Motion carried <br /> on roll call. <br /> APPLICATION FOR PERMIT TO SELL SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS: <br /> 1. Peck's Market, 2620 El Camino Real <br /> 2. Robinson's, 2616 Broadway <br /> 3. Plaza Variety, 3123 Jefferson Avenue. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that if the necessary people have approved these appli- <br /> cations they be approved by the Council, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> Councilman Jones stated that the creek covering committee in the parking area recommends <br /> no change in the plans. He then moved that the plans go through as drawn and Mr. <br /> Frank's letter be answered, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Granger re- <br /> quested that, as a matter of record, it be noted that he suggested that some consider- <br /> ation be given to property owners with the present rear entrances on the parking lot. <br /> The Committee also concurred that the problem of loading and unloading will be given <br /> definite consideration at the time of the layout of the lot. Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Jones suggested the the Health Department be requested to undertake extermination <br /> of rats in the creek before a barrier is constructed so that the rats will not move <br /> upstream into the commercial area. He then *loved that the City Clerk write to the <br /> Health Department for information, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Gran- <br /> ger questioned who would pay for the extermination of the rats. Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Spillers questioned the width of the proposed Valota Road. He understands that <br /> it is to be 60 feet, but there are some people in the area who think it is going to be <br /> 80 feet and are building accordingly. Councilman Spillers was informed that the plan <br /> lines in effect establish a width of 60 feet. Councilman Spillers moved that a letter <br /> be sent to the Planning Commission informing them of the above to clear up apparent <br /> confusion, seconded by Councilman Stout who requested that the letter refer to the <br /> minutes of the Council in which the 60 foot road was adopted. Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Spillers reported on the site for Widow's Incorporated. He advised the Council <br /> that he has looked everywhere and had been unable to fine a more suitable site than <br /> the one originally requested. Councilman Spillers recommended that the Park at Beech <br /> and Elm on Main Street be deeded to the Widow's Inc. at $1.00. The Park & Recreation <br /> Commission has indicated that this sma;; park was not needed and there were agreeable <br /> to turning the property over to the Widow's Inc. After furtherdiscussion regarding <br /> the location of the building, and the legality of the proposal, Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved that this be discussed at the study meeting on Wednesday, May 25th, since the <br />
