<br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING
<br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br /> MAY 31, 1955, 8 :00 P.M.
<br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger,
<br /> Paul Jones, William H. Royer, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and City Clerk R. S. Dodge.
<br /> Councilmen Robert V. Spillers and Hiram S. Stout were noted absent. Also present were
<br /> Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Fire Chief Joseph L. Lodi, Building Inspector S. H.
<br /> Kreiss, Senior Civil Engineer Melvin Moen, Police Chief S. D. Wood, City Collector Paul
<br /> Perrin, Police Captain William Faulstich, Administrative Assistant Orrin Wendling,
<br /> Assistant Engineer Bruce Wyckoff, Associate Engineer Robert P. Oldham, City Attorney
<br /> C. B. Currie, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain and City Manager E. A. Rolison.
<br /> Mayor Herkner requested a report from the Cinnabar Committee regarding the exploration of
<br /> Stulsaft Park for cinnabar deposits. Mr. Dineley appeared requesting an extension of
<br /> fifteen days to submit the report due to the fact that they met with considerable de-
<br /> lay in getting a performance bond and insurance to cover the City and the work, with
<br /> the result that considerable time was lost. Councilman Granger moved that the exten-
<br /> sion be granted provided the bond be extended for the same period of time, seconded by
<br /> Councilman Britschgi and carried.
<br /> PUBLIC HEARING, PARKING DISTRICT NO. I, OPENING OF BIDS. City Attorney advised that the
<br /> hearing covers the resolution modifying description of parcel referred to as Exhibit
<br /> A (area behind the City Hall) showing entrance on Broadway, and also amends to include
<br /> the storm water conduit to be extended across Broadway for approximately 115 feet.
<br /> Affidavit of publication was ordered filed. There being no protests, written or oral,
<br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Jones
<br /> and carried. Councilman Royer was advised that this will be the only public hearing on
<br /> these two modifications. Councilman Royer offered RESOLUTION 1877 MODIFYING DESCRIPTION
<br /> OF PARKING DISTRICT NO. I, and moved its adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi
<br /> and carried on roll call, Councilmen Spillers and Stout noted absent.
<br /> City Engineer Jain, on request of Councilman Granger, estimated the contract items
<br /> including bridge at *205,808.16. Affidavit of publication of notice calling for bids
<br /> was ordered filed. Mayor Herkner ordered that bids as follows be opened:

<br /> These bids were referred to the City Engineer for review to be reported back later
<br /> during the meeting.
<br /> CITY ATTORNEY REPORT ON UPLAND ROAD ANNEXATION (REAR OF SEQUOIA HOSPITAL). City Attorney
<br /> Currie reported than an informal petition was given to Mr. Art E. Miller, 547 King
<br /> Street, and he was requested to have the petition signed as soon as possible. He
<br /> advised the Council that no further proceedings can be taken until such petition is
<br /> received. He also advised the Council that the boundaries have been approved by the
