Councilman Granger, basing his
motion on the report, moved that this issue be laid on the table, seconded by
Councilman Spillers. Councilman Spillers so moved, seconded and
carried.
BUILDING, FIRE AND HEALTH DEPARTMENT INSPECTION REPORT OF S. P. COMPANY FREIGHT SHED.
Letter from these departments was read in which they advised that the following con-
ditions were noted:
1. Foundation consists of mudsills directly on ground.
2. Due to the years of filling on the exterior of the building, a definite
basin has been created under the main structure allowing the under pin-
ning to stand in water and adding to the dry rot condition of the sills
and posts.
3. There is a definite condition of the foundation posts being out of
plumb due in part to the lack of proper bracing.
14. Due to the condition of the loading platform deck, a definite physical
hazardous condition exists.
s. This structure is built entirely of wood and as such can not be made
to comply t the No. 1 Fire Zone in which it is located.
Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Manager be instructed to forward a copy
of this report to Mr. Jordon of the Southern Pacific so that they will be informed
of the condition that exists, seconded by Councilman Granger. E. A. WELLS APPEARED REGARDING THE PROPOSED FARM HILLS BOULEVARD stating that the
tentative map, as approved by the Planning Commission, indicated that the street
would connect to McGarvey and Fernside, thus turning all traffic from the new sub-
division into the streets which were never designed to carry the volume. Mr. Wells
stated his understanding that private property of Davis and Rovetts would block
the extension to Jefferson Avenue. City Engineer advised that to date the Engin-
eering Department had not approved grades, nor had the final map been presented
for checking.
It was the opinion of the Council that it was generally understood that the outlet
would be through to Jefferson Avenue.
