366
further study before adoption. City Manager stated that the revisions had been made
as requested by the Council and that every effort would be made to hold the tax rate
to $1.15. The consensus of opinion of the Council was that the tax rate should be
held at $1.14, if possible. However, the City Manager explained that final tax rate
could not be determined until certain unknown figures were obtained such as cash bal-
ances, total assessed valuations, etc. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that
the Council should have been furnished a copy of the Budget Summary so that study
could have been made before reaching a decision. Councilman Royer moved that the mat-
ter be held over to the Meeting of -July 11, a copy of the Summary to be furnised
each member of the Council. The motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and
carried.
Mrs. Vera Eskin was informed that the deletion of new police and fire personnel
would amount to a saving of approximately .04 on the tax rate.
RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR ISSUANCE OF BONDS, PARKING DISTRICT NO. 1. City Attorney Currie
stated that the Resolution would necessarily have to be re- written to include the
changes requested by the,City Council at the recent study meeting. Mr. Currie will
request Mr. Ernest Wilson to rewrite this Resolution and have same ready for pre-
.
sentation at the July 11 meeting. Councilman Britschgi so moved, seconded by Coun-
cilman Jones. Councilman Granger suggested copies of the Resolution be received in
time so that the Council members may have sufficient time to study the contents.
This request was made a part of the original motion, which carried.
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CALL FOR BONDS - FIRST SALE $500,000. Agenda July 11, 1955.
REQUEST S & W PERMISSION TO INSTALL CONDUITS IN HELLER - MANZANITA INTERSECTION. The City
Engineer recommended that permit to construct certain pipe conduit, wiring, etc. at
the intersection of Heller Street and Manzanita Street, subject to the following con -
ditions:
1. Adequate space shall be left
for men and equipment to work in manhole and to operate sewer cleaning
equipment.
3. Owner to properly protect owner's facilities in manhole from possible
damage by City maintenance forces and sewer cleaning equipment.
4. Owner to construct all conduit and other underground facilities a mini-
mum of thirty inches (30 ") below pavement surface.
5. Owner to agree to relocate, or remove, facilities at owner's expense
upon reasonable notice from the City should it be determined that these
facilities interfere with, or are in the way of other facilities now
existing or to be constructed by the City.
6. Owner to release the City from any and all obligations and damage to
owner's facilities, and owner to hold the City harmless from any and all
claims arising from owner's operations.
S & W Fine Foods, Incorporated, have deposited a check in the amount of one
hundred dollars ( *100.00) to insure replacement of pavement at this intersec-
tion. -
The communication from the S & W Foods, Inc., signed by Mr. Robert W. Earl, was
received agreeing to the above conditions. Councilman Granger moved that permit
be granted based on the Engineer's recommendation and the fact that. the City Attorney
offered no objection.
