Councilman Britschgi was of the <br /> opinion that all of the chatter bars should be removed. <br /> Councilman Stout called attention to a house nearing completion at the rear of a small <br /> lot on Harrison Avenue in the 1000 block. It was noted that the property owner was <br /> allowed recently to resubdivide this property to provide for an improvement and <br /> eliminate a 25' lot in the area. Councilman Stout was of the opinion that steps <br /> II <br /> should be taken to prevait any recurrance of this situation. <br /> Councilman Royer noted that Mr. Tavernier had not been informed that the original annexa- <br /> tion petition in which he was interested had not been located and he suggested that a <br /> letter be written to Mr. Tavernier so advising him and offering assistance,in the <br /> preparation of a new petition. Councilman Royer so moved, seconded by Councilman <br /> Granger and carried. <br /> Councilman Royer requested a statement from the City Manager regarding Bond Funds remaining <br /> with which to repair or build bridges and carry out tree planting program. The City <br /> Manager advised that the amount of money left in the 1914 Bond Fund could be used <br /> only at certain fixed locations and were insufficient to carry out the original pro- <br /> gram. The City Manager will provide a statement indicating amounts of money in the <br /> Fund and what could be done with the money. <br /> Councilman Jones discussed the industrial area on the East side of Bayshore Highway stating <br /> that he had been informed that Mr. Price had withdrawn from his industrial project <br /> because he had been advised that it would be necessary for him to fill the property <br /> to an elevation of one foot over high tide. Councilman Jones as of the opinion that <br /> this situation justified study and the adoption of a policy if we were to secure <br /> industrial development within the City. Councilman Jones suggested that the City <br /> Engineer's Department conduct a study of the conditions in the area East of Bayshore <br /> inasmuch as there is no present policy or understanding of the matter. Councilman <br /> Jones then moved that this matter be referred to the City Engineer, seconded by <br /> Councilman Granger. I t was noted that the new freeway will act as a dike for part of <br /> this property and may have some effect on the final fill question. Motion carried. <br /> GAS TAX PROJECT #56 J1 AVENUE, MIDDLEFIELD TO BAYSHORE. City Engineer recommends <br /> project be accepted as of June 13, 1955 subject to corrections of any defects in <br /> materials and workmanship which might appear within one year. Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> BAY AREA AIR POLLUTION COMMITTEE. The meeting of the Committee will be held on July 11. <br /> at 2 :30 p.m. in the Mark Hopkins Hotel. It was the Committee's request that a member <br /> of the Redwood City Council attend the meeting. Councilman Stout will represent the <br /> City and the Clerk will so inform the Bay Area Council. <br /> Councilman Granger again requested the present status of the proposed street light in front <br /> of the Post Office. The City Manager stated that the job had been held up until such <br /> time as a concrete saw included in the 1955 -56 Budget could be purhcased. Council- <br /> man Britschgi moved that the City Manager be authorized to purchase this equipment, <br /> seconded by Councilman Royer. Fire Chief Joe Lodi stated that there was an addition- <br /> al condition attached to this job due to the presence of fire alarm circuits which <br /> will have to be necessarily transferred out of the column. This fact also has con- <br /> tributed to the delay in the installation of this street light. Motion carried. <br />
