Mayor Herkner stated he would be out of town for one week and suggested that a Mayor pro
tem be appointed during his absence. Councilman Jones moved that Councilman Royer
act in this .capacity effective July 6. The balance of the
meeting will be open to anyone interested.
Mayor Herkner commended the Police Department and the Auxiliary Policemen for the excellent
job done during the July 2 through 4 celebration during which time the fullest amount
of protection was given the public, especially crossing the Bayshcr a Highway. The Fire
Department was also commended for a job well done. Mrs. Helen Stouffer
appeared to inform the City Council that her intentions were to build a duplex on the
property as would be allowed by the present zoning of R -2. The Planning Commission
Y g g ,
however, has initiated action to zone this property R -1 to keep the density down.
Councilman Royer called attention to the fact that the County allow 15' easement to
serve one lot and 20' easement for 2 lots. In this particular case, there is a 30'
easement, 15' to serve each of the interior lots. After further discussion, Councilman
Britschgi moved that the Planning Commission's recommendation be approved with the
exception that the zoning be left at R -2 as at present. Motion seconded by Councilman
Royer and carried.
APPROVAL APPLICATION OF DR. FROMM FOR VARIANCE TO ALLOW 10' FRONT YARD TO ALLOW BETTER OFF -
STREET PARKING AT 1130 HOPKINS AVENUE. Councilman
Britschgi remarked that the Council recently had been accused of granting variances
in some areas and refusing in others. This particular variance will result in better
parking conditions. Councilman Britschgi offered RESOLUTION #1892 and moved adoption,
seconded by Councilman Royer and carried on roll call, Councilman Spillers noted absent.
APPROVAL APPLICATION OF JUAN BORGER TO MOVE HOUSE FROM 527 WINSLOW STRFFT TO 634 EAST
BREWSTER AVENUE.
