Ampex state that the location of
facilities in the Peninsula Motor Express yard is such that driveways installed
in accordance with the Ordinance would make operations exceedingly difficult, if
not impossible. They request favorable action on Peninsula's request for a vari-
ance to enable Peninsula Motor Express to have a driveway sufficiently wide to
serve the loading dock. Ampex's concern is in obtaining a safe walkway along Char-
ter Street. They cannot see any need to limit the driveway width as the trend in
this vicinity is towards more off- street parking areas. It was decided to hold
this matter for consideration at the July 14th Study Meeting. Councilman Britschgi
suggested the Council look over the situation and at the same time, study the prob-
lem at Redwood Wholesale Grocery. It was decided to meet at 7:30 P.M., July 14 and
visit the area.
TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE - RECOMMEND INSTALLATION STOP SIGNS ARCH STREET AT BREWSTER
AVENUE, CYPRESS STREET AT PARK STREET. Councilman Granger stated his opin-
ion that Hudleton should be advised that the Council does not look favorably on
Sunday dances, which, apparently Mr. Hudleton contemplates requesting permission
to operate.
Councilman Royer reported on the proposed sale of 2.9 acres of Hawes Park #2 stating
that the School Board had offered to purchase the property at $30,000.00 without
an appraisal. Councilman Royer was of the opinion that the City Attorney could
hire a competant appraiser at his own discretion in keeping with the provisions of
the Charter. Inasmuch as the School Board will require an answer by July 13, the
City Attorney will arrange for this appraisal at once. Councilman Royer so moved,
seconded by Councilman Jones and carried.
Councilman Stout called attention to the Use Permit granted the Redeemer Lutheran
Church for expansion at Grand and Harrison Streets.
