Budy some
prior years ago at which time he had an agreement to secure water through Mr. Budy's
meter. Recently, Mr. Budy has sold the front house and this has resulted in an
unsatisfactory arrangement with the new owner. Mr. Rodriquez requests that he be
given a meter so that this situation may be cleared up.
Water Superintendent Winter explained that in March 1950, Mr. Budy had been refused
another water meter in spite of which he had proceeded to secure a County Building
Permit and had connected two houses to one service. After further discussion,
Councilman Spillers moved that new meter be allowed, seconded by Councilman Britschgi
who was of the opinion that there was no other way out of the difficulty. Then fol-
lowed the discussion as to whether this situation existed in other places and whether
or not some control could be set up to prevent such a reoccurrence.
Councilman Granger was of the opinion that this problem should be left up to Mr. Budy
who should appear before the Council. On roll call vote motion carried, Councilman
Granger, Jones and Stout voting "No ". Councilman Herkner voted in favor of the con-
nection as he felt there was no other way under the circumstances. However, he was
of the opinion that a survey should be made by the Water Department. If there are
other similar situations the Council should know about them. Councilman Herkner
then moved that the Water Department make a survey of any existing similar cases,
also, that the proper person be notified that such a situation will no longer be
tolerated. Motion seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS ON PRICE INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY - In response to the statement that
Mr. Price had announced his intention to remove activities from the area east of Bay
II shore Highway, several departments, namely the Planning Commission, City Engineers,
Water and Building Departments, denied the charges that the City had failed to coop -
erate with Mr. Price. The Planning Commission stated they had done everything to
cooperate and still do what is proper for the City. City Engineer, Water Superinten-
dent and Building Inspector also testified that everything possible had been done to
assist Mr. Price in making arrangements for improving the industrial area bearing
the name of Price Industrial Property.
