• <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER reported on sale of approximately 2.113 acres of Hawes Park to the Elem- <br /> entary School District. An appraisal has been established by City Assessor <br /> J. J. Brophy who sets $31,000.00 as a fair price. Councilman Royer moved that the <br /> City Attorney complete the necessary transaction, seconded by Councilman Spillers. <br /> Councilman Granger asked that the record carry the City Attorney's opinion that the <br /> City Assessor was qualified under the terms of the City Charter to make the apprai- <br /> sal. Motion carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER requested that new sign ordinance be considered at the Council Meeting <br /> of July 25th. Mr. Larry Wise is to have copy of proposed Ordinance in the hands of <br /> the Councilmen before that date. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER requested City Manager to arrange to have light in the Council Chambers <br /> repaired. <br /> COMMtUNICATION from Mrs. Margaret Talt, representing Emerald Lake Volunteers was read re- <br /> questing that the Park Department clean up the Easter Bowl before August 7th, the <br /> date of the Highland Youth benefit. Councilman Spillers moved that City Manager <br /> arrange to have the bowl cleaned up, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER expressed his appreciation of the work under way in the installation <br /> of the light in front of the Post Office. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER commented on the possibility of obtaining dead -end tidelands for <br /> refuse dump, possibly obtaining permission of the Federal Government. City Manager <br /> was asked to take under consideration. <br /> COMMUNICATION from L. H. Price regarding future meeting with City Council to discuss <br /> problems was read at the request of Councilman Granger. Councilman Jones advised <br /> he had discussed the problem in general with Mr. Price and stated he would pass <br /> along result of this conversation with the members of the City Council. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE asked that City Clerk be authorized to accept deed from Mr. Taman <br /> and Mrs. Hall to property in Parking District No. 1. Councilman Spillers moved <br /> authority, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE requested authorization for City Clerk to accept deed from Fontana <br /> to property in Parking District No. 1. City Manager was authorized to include in a <br /> letter to Mr. Fontana the following conditions: <br /> 1. In exchange for property, Mr. Fontana was subject to no expense for the <br /> assessment district other than the taxes based on normal assessed valuation. <br /> 2. City to install sidewalk on east side of building, at no expense to Mr. Fon- <br /> tana. This is taken care of in plans for parking area. <br /> 3. Any surplus dirt not needed by City to be dumped on Fontana property. <br /> Councilman Spillers so moved, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER moved City Clerk be authorized to accept deed from Mr. Fontana, second- <br /> ed by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE advised two deeds were ready for delivery covering 5 foot easement <br /> for sewer and water lines from Carleton Tract to Kentfield at $325.00 each. Council <br /> has already appropriated $500.00 for this purpose and Mr. Currie recommends trans- <br /> fer of $150.00 balance from Unbudgeted Reserve. Councilman Spillers offered Reso- <br /> lution No. 1905 and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried on roll <br /> call, Councilman Britschgi noted absent. <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT moved authorization for City Clerk to accept deed to 5 foot easement, <br /> seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />
