COMMUNICATION FROM TRAFFIC COMMITTEE REGARDING MRS. BLACK'S REQUEST TO RETAIN 6' <br /> FENCE ON PROPOSED STREET. The Committee feels no recommendation can be made regard- <br /> ing fence from the City's standpoint until street has been constructed and placed in <br /> operation. When the volume and character of traffic is determined and the traffic <br /> pattern developed, a further study and recommendation c an be made. Councilman Brits - <br /> chgi moved that a copy of this letter be forwarded to Mrs. Black, seconded by Council- <br /> man Royer and carried. <br /> SHRINE CIRCUS COMMITTEE LETTER OF APPRECIATION. Warren A. Slack, General Chairman, Shrine <br /> Circus Committee, expressed appreciation for cooperation received from City Council <br /> and all Departments. Letter was ordered filed. <br /> LETTER FROM GOVERNOR KNIGHT'S OFFICE REGARDING RECENT VETO OF OMNIBUS PARK BILL. <br /> Communication indicates that the Governor disapproved the entire State Park program <br /> because he felt that many of the problems had not been adequately considered by the <br /> Legislature. The matter will be submitted again at the session next March. Council- <br /> man Bristchgi moved that another letter be addressed to the Governor requesting that <br /> he attempt to stop the cutting of the redwood trees in Butano Forrest until a final <br /> decision can be reached, copy to be forwarded to Assemblyman Richard Dolwig. Motion <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br /> LETTER FROM SOCIAL SERVICE SUPERINTENDENT SIMMONS REGARDING COUNTY RECEIVING HOME CHILDREN <br /> USING SWIMMING POOL WITHOUT CUSTOMARY CHARGE. Councilman Spillers moved that this <br /> matter be referred to the Park and Recreation Commission for their recommendation, <br /> seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS <br /> Councilman Stout reported on his proposal that an assessment of $25.00 be made on each <br /> new residence or new subdivision, the money to be used for recreational purposes. <br /> After discussion as to the method of handling such an assessment, it was decided to <br /> set this matter for study when the Council next meets to consider annexation problems. <br /> Councilman Royer reported that the Real Estate Committee had inspected Lots 3 and 4, <br /> Block 1, Homestead Addition and set a value of $500.00 with the provisions that: <br /> 1. The front 30' of Lots 1 and 2 owned by Mr. F. Giannini be deeded <br /> to the City. <br /> 2. The front 30' of Lots 3 and 4 be retained upon the sale of same. <br /> 3. No building would be constructed on Lots 3 and 4, the property <br /> to be used as a yard area for a duplex located on Lots 1 and 2. <br /> The Committee recommended the sale of property subject to the three restrictions <br /> providing Mr. Giannini was the successful bidder. Councilman Royer so moved, seconded <br /> by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER requested that City Engineer bring the Canyon Road project up to date. <br /> City Engineer advised plans had been checked and returned, deed description had been <br /> furnished City Attorney for acquisition. Councilman Royer moved that the City <br /> Attorney take the necessary steps to start proceedings, people of the area to be <br /> informed action of the Council. Motion seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN Granger reported on the committee findings in regard to the Union Cemetery. <br /> Approximately 100% of the people interested opposed the conversion of the cemetery <br /> to a Park. The Committee recommended and Ordinance establishing a 5 -year limitation <br /> to further burials providing the State would offer no objections. In regard to the <br /> future use of the area, the Committee had no recommendation. Councilman Granger then <br />
