DOGE <br /> CIT CLERK <br /> Minutes of Regular Meeting <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> August 1, 1955 - 8 :00 p.m. <br /> Devotional was led by Reverand Wilbur Westerdahl, Pastor of the Peninsula Covenant <br /> Church. <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. <br /> Granger, Paul Jones, William H. Royer, Robert V. Spillers, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner, <br /> and City Clerk Ralph S. Dodge. Councilman Hiram S. Stout was noted absent. Also <br /> present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, Assistant City Attorney Chester W. Lebsack, <br /> City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, Administrative Assistant Orrin E. Wendling, Water Super- <br /> intendent H. L. Winter, Police Chief Stanley Wood, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Building <br /> Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Assessor- Auditor John J. Brophy, and Police Captain William <br /> Faulstich. <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting of July 18th and the adjourned meeting of July 25th <br /> were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman <br /> Britschgi and carried. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING, R. KILBORN APPLICATION TO REZONE LOTS 1L & 15, BLOCK 2, WOOSTER, WHITTON <br /> AND MONTGOMERY, FROM R -2 TO R -3 (Ebener near Oak). The Planning Commission recommended <br /> denial. The affidavit of publication was ordered filed. Mr. Manuel Grant, 1173 <br /> Grand Street, and three of his neighbors protested the R -3 zoning. Theys - bated that <br /> that they would like to see a duplex built on the property but they did not favor two <br /> story apartment units. Mr. Kilborn stated that he did not care about R - zoning <br /> if there was some way in which he could build the duplex next to the guest house that <br /> is already on the property. This would enable him to have a three unit place. <br /> II Councilman Spillers questioned the amount of footage and was informed by Mr. Kilborn <br /> that his property is 70' x 114' which is two lots. <br /> After further discussion in regard to zoning and variances, Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved that the public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Spillers. On the <br /> question, Councilman Granger stated that it was not clear why the Planning Commission <br /> recommended denial but that the Council should follow through with the Planning <br /> Commission's recommendation and then turn the matter back to them.
