There being no protests, written or oral, Councilman Britschgi moved public hearing be closed, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. As there were no protests, written or oral, Councilman Spillers moved close of public hearing, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. REPORT, CITY ENGINEER ON GLENFAIR SUBDIVISION. The City Clerk read a petition, signed by 26 property owners on Roble Avenue, protesting the proposed Glenfair Subdivision at the south end of their street. City Engineer Jain reported this 8 -lot subdivision is at the end of a 1000 -foot deadend street south of Carlos Avenue. The only adequate water supply is at Carlos Avenue, and the entire street is now served by only a 2 -inch and 12 -inch water line, without fire protection. The City Manager, the Water Superintendent, and the City Engineer previously ad- vised the subdivider that if he would pay 1 /1j the cost of a 6 -inch water main ex- tending from Carlos Avenue, they would recommend that the City pay the remaining 3/4 of the cost, based upon the approximate proportions used by existing and proposed developments. It is estimated that the proposed contribution by the City to this Roble Avenue main would be approximately $5,000.00. The problem of drainage was again discussed at some length. When questioned about notifying the contractor, City Engineer Jain stated that he has had a least fif- teen meetings with the contractor and that there wasn't another thing the City could do until the Contractor and his engineer settled the drainage problem.
