396 <br /> RJCONMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> Councilman Royer moved that the Chamber of Commerce be paid half of their budget as they <br /> have in the past, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> Councilman was ap,;roached by some citizens in the Friendly Acres area in regard <br /> to the mater of speeding and deaths. Robert Masters, a painter and a member of the <br /> Friendly Acres Improvement Club, reported to Councilman Granger that their Club . <br /> would be willing to pay the expense of putting up signs in their area to help cut <br /> down the accidents. Councilman Foyer noted that there are several areas in town <br /> where the night parking situation could also be worked in with the safety sign. <br /> Councilman Granger moved that the Council take the initial step and the Friendly <br /> acres Improvement Club he notified to meet with the Council and the Traffic Study <br /> Committee. Motion seconded by Councilman Royer who requested they add to their cam- <br /> paign to keep the cars off the street as much as possible. Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Royer moved that the matter be referred to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee <br /> to come up with the solution in regard to all night parking of cars, seconded by <br /> Councilman Britschgi with Councilman Spillers voting "No" on roll call. Councilman <br /> Stout noted absent, motion carried. <br /> Councilman Britschgi brought up the question of islands on Whipple Avenue near the Sequoia <br /> Hospital. He stated that it spoiled the looks of the Hospital to have the unpaved <br /> streets. He felt that ice plants could be planted or the street paved. The City <br /> Manager was directed to look into the matter and check with the County to see if <br /> they will pave the street. Councilman Britschgi made the motion that the City <br /> Clerk_write a letter to Cap Grant, County Engineer, seconded by Councilman Royer <br /> and carried. <br /> Councilman Granger spoike in regard to the sewers in the unimproved area of Upton Street. <br /> Assistant City Attorney Lebsack stated that he had been informed by the District <br /> Attorney's office that the Supervisors will form a Sewer Maintenance District and <br /> we will render bills for services rendered. <br /> Assistant City Attorney Lebsack asked that the Council take steps to annex the Brewster <br /> Reservoir area. Councilman Spillers offered Resolution of Intention 1910 to Annex <br /> the Brewster Reservoir Territory, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on <br /> roll call, Councilman Stout noted absent. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED AMENDING ORDINANCE 600 REGULATING SWIMMING POOLS, HEIGHT <br /> OFFENCES AND H,DGES. Councilman Britschgi moved that this be held over for one <br /> week, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> 1 <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION OF PETE SMITH FOR VARIANCE <br /> TO ALLOW 5FT. REAR YARD FOR CAR PORT (CORNER LOT AT 3232 PAGE STREET)SUBJECT TO <br /> CITY ENGINEER'S APPROVAL OF DRIVEWAY. Councilman Britschgi movedepproval of the <br /> Planning Commission recommendation, seconded by Councilman Royer. City Engineer <br /> Jain stated that he would give his approval for the d riveway if the Council will <br /> approve the car port. Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Britschgi offered Resolution 1911 for a Variance to Allow 5 ft. Rear <br /> Yard for Car Port at 3232 Page Street and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman <br /> Royer and carried on roll call, Councilman Stout noted absent. <br />
