Brophy, City Collector Paul E. Perrin, Sam Knight and J. Shields of the Assessor's
office.
Affidavit of publication of notice to taxpayers was ordered filed.
There were no written protests.
Mr. Solomon, representing the S. H. Frank's Tannery, appeared in person to protest the in-
crease in assessed valuation from $800 to ".2,000 per acre. Mr. Solomon stated that inasmuch -
as the State would soon take considerable of his land for freeway purposes, the time was not
right for reassessing. City Assessor Brophy explained he had reassessed all property on the
east side of Bayshore in like amount, stating further that the property had not been brought
up to date for several years.
Mr. Solomon claimed that the Blomquist property was filled land while much of the tannery
property was part -time under water. It developed that the assessor's method of assessing
resulted in a lower figure than would have been the case if he had assessed the higher land
on a true value basis.
After further discussion, Councilman Spillers moved all protests be overruled, seconded by
I/ Councilman Britschgi and carried.
