City ;attorney Currie re- <br /> ported that if the property involved were owned by two separate owners there wouldn't <br /> be any question, but because of. our. present zoning laws, and the. fact that the prop- <br /> erty is owned by one person the property must be treated as. one. lot rather than two 35' <br /> lots. Since this property already has a single family dwelling on it there will not be <br /> sufficient front footahe left to build a duplex. The only way to. handle this situa- <br /> tion would be to rezone the property to R -3 which would. be .spot zoning in an R -2 area. <br /> Councilman Stout moved approval of the Planning Commission recommendation to deny <br /> application, seconded by Councilman. Jones and carried. <br /> VETERAN'S MEMORIAL COMMITTEE REPORT RECOMMENDING PURCHASE OF SEATS AND CURTAINS. The Com- <br /> mittee recommended that the contract for Opera Chairs be awarded to the Fred E. Turner <br /> Company on the basis of item #2, Opera. Chair Irwin #1242, for the. amount of <br /> $4.757.00. This amount_ to be modified by the addition of 3/4" backs and the omission <br /> of the side panels in, the.seat. It is further. understood that. the.arms will be approx- <br /> imately_ longer than the..sample submitted. <br /> It was also. recommended_. that. the low bid of the Fred_ E.. Councilman Jones moved <br /> acceptance of the Committee's.report, seconded by Councilman Britschgi andcarried. <br /> COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REPORT REGARDING THE YACHT HARBOR COMMITTEE. Councilman Britschgi <br /> reported that they had left the matter up to the Port. Commission in regard to boundary <br /> slough. Mr. Jain and. Mr.._.Allen. had worked out a plan. and plotted out the land. The <br /> survey work has been .completed, contour. maps will be prepared and amount of material <br /> to be dredged will be estimates which in turn will be turned over to the Port Commis- <br /> sion. It was felt .that Mr. Allen was a very capable man and he might be engaged to <br /> supervise the dredging operations. Councilman Britschgi then moved that call for bids <br /> be prepared after contacting Mr. Allen, the necessary funds to be transferred later. <br /> Motion seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER REPORT ON CINNABAR. The following_ report "Notice Inviting Bids for Lease" <br /> was read by the Clerk. <br /> "Notice is hereby given that the City of Redwood City will.receive bids for a <br /> lease of a portion of_an. area owned by said city, commonly known and designated <br /> as 'Stulsaft Park',.for the purpose o.f.conducting.cinnabar mining operations <br /> thereon. Said bids. shall, be. sealed_ and delivered. to the office of the City <br /> Manager on or before.2:00 p.m, on the .22nd day of September, 1955, and will be <br /> opened and publicly .read .aloud.. in the.office of the City Manager on or about <br /> 2:00 p.m. of that day. <br /> I/ <br /> All bids shall specify the royalty to be paid, stating whether gross or net <br /> or any combination thereof, .and._ the bonus to. be paid in cash to the City of <br /> Redwood City for the execution of the lease. . <br /> Bidders arehereby notified that the lease will. contain, among other things, <br /> the following terms and conditions: <br /> 1.
