L -4 <br /> 3. A faithful.pe.rformance bond in the amount of $50,000 will be required. <br /> 4. Satisfactory evidence of financial responsibility, experience and equip- <br /> ment available to conduct mining operations must accompany all bids. <br /> 5. Successful bidder must make arrangements with adjoining property owner <br /> for access to the property. Bidders are notified that access will probably be <br /> provided over adjoining property under the following conditions: <br /> (a) Construction of a.temporary roadway on a route apecified <br /> by the adjacent property owner. <br /> (b) Successful bidder Must _repair _ all.damage. to streett, curbs, <br /> and gutters,.. and .other. property. along _ any streets on prop- <br /> erty of adjacent property owners. <br /> (c) Daily cleaning of. all-streets. over.. which . ore is transported <br /> will be required. <br /> (d) Bond and public liability insurance as.r.equi red.by the adjoining <br /> props rty owner. <br /> 6. No bidder may withdraw his. bid within thirty days after the date set <br /> for opening bids. <br /> 12. Other terms and conditions shall be as.mutually agreed upon. <br /> City of Redwood City reserves the right to reject.any and all bids and to <br /> waive any informality .in_ any. bids submitted. <br /> This is a tentative suggestion and Councilman Granger asked that the Council study the <br /> r carefully, have A <br /> report c refully, h ve the City Attorney, if necessary, obtain technical assistance <br /> to draw up a proper agreement and place the matter on the agenda for one week. Council- <br /> man Britschgi stated that he was afraid they would run into the rainy season if this <br /> was delayed too long. Councilman Stout stated that the Committee had done a wonderful <br /> job and he moved that if the proposed lease is as should be and is approved by the <br /> City Attorney and if proved to be correct that the matter be put over for one week. <br /> The motion was seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> INTRODUCE 1955-56 TAX RATE ORDINANCE. Councilman Granger asked that his report as chair- <br /> man of the Civil Defense Committee be read, stating that this may appear odd at this <br /> time but he thought this matter should be brought up before the budget is adopted and <br /> if necessary the tax rate could be raised. Clerk read the report wherby the Committee <br /> stated that seven other cities on the peninsula from South San Francisco to Palo Alto <br /> had been contacted. They found that the civil defense programs are handled similarly., <br /> to ours and are generally in the same condition. It was the consensus of opinion that <br /> II either a full time or part time coordinator was necessary to do an adequate job. <br /> The Committee was of the opinion that a part time coordinator to recruit volunteer help <br /> and round out a complete program would be sufficient for Redwood City. A part time <br /> position such as this would cost about $2,000 a year plus some travel expenses and <br /> office supplies. A total of $2,500 should handle all expenses. <br /> Mayor Herkner stated that an additional $2,000 was put in the Unbudgeted Reserve and <br /> this could be used without changing the tax rate.
