City Manager advised cost to removed the Chinese Elms <br /> would be approximately 4600.00. City Engineer Jain stated that the State could not <br /> spend as tax money on this project. The motion carried. It was understood that the <br /> program, being part of the Beautification Program, the City should stand the expense <br /> II with an effort being made to secure part of the cost from the State Highway Commission. <br /> Councilman Royer moved that the proper authorities be authorized to write tothe State <br /> regarding the removal of the trees and to ask if ther was any way in which the State <br /> could finance the cost of taking out the trees, the City to plant and maintain same, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED THAT PARTICULAR ATTENTION BE GIVEN THE MATTER OF <br /> DRAINAGE FROM FARM HILLS AREA THROUGH STULSAFT PARK, BEFORE FARM HILLS SUBDIVISION MAP <br /> IS GIVEN FINAL APPROVAL. The Commission feels that any serious consideration for a <br /> master plan for the development of Stulsaft Park would be useless in the light of the <br /> drainage situation. Councilman Britschgi stated that he had this matter called to the <br /> attention of the Park and Recreation Commission after he had seen the conditions when <br /> he was checking with the Lions Club representatives in Stulsaft Park regarding the area <br /> for the proposed Fairyland. He stated that at that time he noted that Farm Hills is <br /> draining almost everything into Stulsaft Creek and that was why he asked the Commission <br /> to look into the problem, This was followed by discussion regarding how the area should <br /> be drained. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Engineer be instructed to take this <br /> matter up with Oddstad Homes and bring back a report, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br /> carried. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REQUESTED THAT FUNDS BE,ALLOCATED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A <br /> MASTER PLAN FOR STULSAFT PARK, PLANS WHICH WOULD INCORPORATE THE PROPOSED FAIRYLAND. <br /> Councilman Granger moved that the City Manager be authorized to investigate to see how <br /> much money is required, seconded by Councilman Royer. Councilman Spillers asked that <br /> the City Manager consider the cost of straightening, bridging and fencing of the creek. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Harold Shaw, 1339 Recreation Way, appeared and asked the Council to please notify <br /> the Highlands Community Club of any action being taken in regard to Stulsaft Park. His <br /> property is adjoining Stulsaft Park and he is very interested in the activities which are <br /> taking place. Mr. Irving Gold, Park and Recreation Commissioner, stated that these <br /> people were welcome to attend any of the Commission's meetings. <br /> SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS, CITY COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT BEADS. <br /> Councilman Stout spoke regarding the left hand turns on Bayshore Highway to the trailer courts. <br /> He is of the opinion that a study should be made in regard to possible service road <br /> from Harbor Blvd. Councilman Stout moved that the City Manager be authorized to <br /> investigate the matter of an access road. Councilman Britschgi stated that Leslie Salt <br /> might object to this. This was followed by general discussion in regard to the State, <br /> County and City being involved and who should be contacted. After the discussion, <br /> Councilman Spillers seconded the motion which carried. City 1° lanager to report in two <br /> weeks. <br /> Councilman Royer reported that the Real Estate Committee had met and it was their recommenda- <br /> tion that the Eourquin property be purchased for the sum of 460,000.
