City Manager Rolison recommended low bid of Towne Motors be accepted. Councilman Spillers <br /> moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF HILLSIDE MANOR APPLICATION TO RESUBDIVIDE PORTION <br /> OF LOT 19, BLOCK 24, STERLING HIGHLANDS #5, INTO FOUR LOTS. This matter was held over <br /> from January 17th at - the request of Mr. Jim Gleason of the Highlands Community Club refer- <br /> ring particularly to sidewalks. Councilman Spillers moved approval of recommendation, <br /> seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS REZONE AREA MAIN, CHARTER, EL CAMINO AND SHASTA FROM C -3 to C -2, <br /> Councilman Spillers moved the recommendation be approved, seconded by Councilman Jones and <br /> carried. City Attorney will prepare the necessary ordinance upon receipt of proper des- <br /> cription of the area involved. Agenda February 21st. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS THAT IF THE CITY COUNCIL DESIRES TO REZONE ROSENE PROPERTY, <br /> same should be included on an area basis, namely, the southerly side of Jefferson Avenue <br /> between Lancaster and the block between Topaz and Sapphire. The commission will hold pub- <br /> lic hearings if the council so desires. Councilman Royer moved that the hearings be held, <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers. Councilman Britschgi spoke in opposition to the spread <br /> of commercial area and stated his opinion that the residential property should be protected <br /> against any further commercial zoning in this area. Mr. Leonard Greenwold stated the view- <br /> point of the Planning Commission to the effect that the Rosene property should not be re- <br /> zoned without taking in the additional area including the Schopp parking lot, and the <br /> Sifford property. Councilman Royer stated that the matter was referred back to the Com- <br /> mission because it was thought that conditions might have changed enough to warrant further <br /> consideration at this time. After further discussion, Councilman Granger offered an amend- <br /> ment to the original motion denying the Rosene application to rezone, seconded by <br /> man Britschgi and carried on roll call, Councilman Spillers voting NO. Original motion <br /> requesting public hearing was then voted upon and failed to carryon roll call. Council- <br /> man Britschgi then moved that the entire matter be turned back to the Planning Commission <br /> for further study, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on unanimously on'roll call. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS DENIAL APPLICATION C. REID TO REZONE LOTS 10 AND 11, BLOCK F, <br /> BOYD & KENT ADDITION, (46 Hemlock ) from R -4 to C- 1 -H -F. Councilman Spillers moved that <br /> public hearing be for two weeks. Councilman Stout seconded the motion which carried. <br /> City Clerk will mail post cards regarding the public hearing. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS DENIAL APPLICATION D. C. MOHR FOR VARIANCE TO ALLOW A TNELVE FOOT <br /> SIX INCH (12' -6") REAR YARD INSTEAD OF A TWENTY FOOT (20'), LOT 1, FRANCES TRACT (Eaton <br /> Avenue and Frances Lane). Mr. Mohr appeared before the council stating that he had given <br /> the city seven foot (7 strip along front at the time the land was subdivided,.and that <br /> he had a petition signed by people who live adjacent to his property where he plans to build <br /> who have no objections to the variance requested. Councilman Spillers offered RESOLUTION <br /> NO. 1829 approving request for variance and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Royer <br /> and carried on roll call. Mr. Gallagher appeared before the council stating that he lives <br /> next door to the property in question and he is in favor of the project. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDS DENIAL APPLICATION L. BROWNSTEIN TO REZONE LOTS 1 AND 2, BLOCK 21, <br /> REDWOOD HIGHLANDS FROM R -1 TO R -2 (Brewster, Elwood and Fulton). Councilman Spillers <br /> moved this be set for public hearing in three weeks, seconded by Councilman Stout and <br /> carried. <br />
