Councilman Royer then moved that <br /> the City Attorney draw up a suitable instrument which may be recorded, seconded by <br /> Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> ACCEPTANCE OF CARLETON BRACT IMPROVEMENTS. City Engineer made the following recommendations: <br /> 1. Correction of all defects in materials and workmanship which might appear <br /> within one year from this date. <br /> 2. Payment by the subdivider of all engineering and inspection charges due <br /> the City, before release of the performance bond. <br /> Councilman Spillers moved approval, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> AUTHORIZE SIGNING OF AGREEMENT WITH DOOLITTLE AND LAMPERT REGARDING PAVING ON BAY ROAD. <br /> Councilman Granger moved City Manager be authorized to sign agreement as recommended <br /> by City Engineer Jain which agreement covers temporary paving on Bay Road adjacent to <br /> Lot 4, Block 2, Dumbarton Acres, for length of approximately 78' pending construction <br /> of permanent improvement. Motion seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> AUTHORITY TO ERECT UNITED CRUSADE BANNER. Councilman Spillers moved permission be granted <br /> subject to the usual insurance holding the City harmless, seconded by Councilman Stout <br /> and carried. <br /> COMMUNICATION FROM HIGHLANDS COMMUNITY CLUB REQUESTING RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AT GOODWIN <br /> SCHOOL. The letter from the Club was read in which request is made for funds from the <br /> proceeds of the sale of Hawes Park to the School District with which to develop <br /> recreational facilities at Goodwin School. Councilman Jones was of the opinion that <br /> due to the unsettled net amount to be received from the sale of Hawes Park any action <br /> should be deferred for the present and the letter be turned over to the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission for their recommendation. <br /> Councilman Granger then moved that the City Manager prepare a report to include the <br /> amount of money necessary to develop the facilities at Goodwin School, said report to <br /> include the type of play equipment necessary, seconded by Councilman Royer, In the <br /> discussion that followed it developed that the City Manager could go to the Park and <br /> Recreation Commission and secure their thought in the matter. Mrs. Eskin spoke on the <br /> subject stating that the needs of the community should be ascertained. Motion carried. <br /> COMMUNICATIONFROM THE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REGARDING FURTHER REPORT ON TRAFFIC CONDITIONS, <br /> MASSACHUSETTS AND WOODSIDE ROAD. The Division of Highways submitted the following: <br /> The traffic count included in our study was obtained on July 28, <br /> 1955, when school was not in session. However, the following information <br /> was obtained from the Redwood City Elementary School District and was taken <br /> into account: <br /> Number of School children crossing Woodside Road <br /> at Massachusetts Avenue each school day 85 <br /> Number of pedestrian crossings by school children <br /> each school day (2 per child) 170 <br /> Number of school bus trip per day across Woodside <br /> I/ <br /> Road at this location. (One bus makes two <br /> trips to pick up and return 40 children) 4 <br /> The result of the findings indicate that they are not in accord with request for <br /> signals at this point. The City Council were still of the opinion that the request <br /> for signals should not be abandoned but that the matter should be taken up with the <br /> State requesting further consideration.
