Councilman Stout amended his motion and the motion, as amended,., <br /> ' carried. <br /> ' RE�UEST ABANUONMENT PLANS NORTHWEST CORNER EL CAMINO AND 4,IHIPPLF AVENUE. The Clerk read the <br /> letter. from Harold Wattenberg, attorney f'or Her.bert Stiller, who is purchasing the <br /> north-west corner of .El �amino Real and �hipple Avenue, known as the Fox Shoppe. In <br /> his letter Mr. Y��ttenberg stated that his client intends to lease Lot 6 and a portion <br /> of Lot 5 �'or a gasoline service station. It is respecti�ully requested that any restric- <br /> tions contained in the proposed plan of the Planning Commission of 19�.8 be abandoned by <br /> the City of Redwood City. � <br /> ' Mr•. Wattenberg appeared in person and stated his clients case. This was followed by <br /> � <br /> discussion. �ouncilman Jones su��ested that this matter be set for study as he stated <br /> it muat be considered with the thou�;ht still in mind as to the plans that the State may <br /> ' have for Whipple Avenue connectin�; to Bayshore. Councilman Royer su�gested that the <br /> hearin� be continued on the a�enda and the :City En�ineer brinb back the new proposed "�j <br /> plans. Councilman Jones stated that they should also have the State plan. Councilman """'� <br /> Britschgi stated that he would be opposed to any service station being built on this <br /> corner. <br /> Councilman Hoyer moved that the matter be continued and referred to the �ity �n�ineer <br /> and Tr�ffic Study Committee in regard to the new plan lines and report back to the <br /> Council, seconded by Councilman Jones. Cit9 Engineer Jain stated that these plan lines <br /> . were suggested by the the Planning Commission and he thought they whould be considered. <br /> , Councilman Royer added to his motion that the City Attorney take this matter up with the <br /> Plannin� Commission. This was followed by discussion. Police Chief Faulstich stated <br /> that this is one of the most difficult intersection in town and he thinks that it should <br /> be given considerable thou�;ht. Mr. Wattenberg asked that he be allowed to attend the <br /> meetings. Permission was �ranted to Mr. �attenherg. Motion carried. <br /> REPORT ON BID OPEi1DING, 200 FEET OF 22" IRE HOS�. City Manager Rolison submitted the ' <br /> ' following report: <br /> �I �"Attached find recommendation of Chief Lodit with reference to the <br /> '� purchase of 2000 ft. of 22" fire hose for the Fire Department. <br /> I� Since the two bids received on American Rubber hose are identical, � <br /> and therefore price and quality are equal, it is my recommendation � <br /> I� that a representative from each of these two bidders draw lots in ,,,,,,,�j <br /> � order to determine which bidder shall be awarded the contract. <br /> i <br /> 'I White the budget appropriation is �:236.00 short of the amount re- <br /> !, quired for this purchase, this small amount can be absorbed without <br /> � making a transfer of funds. rr <br /> ;� The Clerk read the following report submitte.d by Fire Chief J.
