The following bida were received.
Bidders Nlanufacturer Location Price Terms
H. L. Parkman American Rubber Hose Oakland 1.28 ft. 2% lOth prox.
American Rubber Co. American Rubber Hose Oakland 1.28 ft. 2 30 days
Western Fire uaker Pioneer Hose Philadelp. 1.28 ft. 2f 30 days
Total cost for 2000 feet - 2636.00.
""' I wish to recommend the profuct of H. L. Parlnan of American Rubber Company over the
Western rire, Ouaker rioner, be accepted for the following reasons :

1. American Ruber Hose is flat-cured as opposed to circular mold. The
flate cure packs and loads `into the fire apparatus much better which
means that more hose can be carried.
2. American Rubber tube is much smoother and does not have the pack-marks
and depressions that e xist in the uaker ioneer tube. The rough tube
causes a hiher friction loss during pumping operation.
, 3. The mildew-proofing is more uniform in the American Rubber and all of '
the cotton is penetrated. The quaker Pioneer hose appears to be only
surface mildew proofing and lacks penetration where the actual mildew
may occur which is the inner 3acket.
The budet appropriation for this how was 200.00. The total bid was for 2636.00,
therefore an appropriation of p236.00 should be transferred into the capital of the ',
Fire Department to make up the difference. ',
Respectfully, '
' J. L. Lodi, Chief I
Councilman Granger moved that this matter be referred back to the City Manager and he I!
be authorized to purchase the hose from either H. L. Parkman or American Rubber Company I
and to determine it in any manner he feels fair, seconded by Councilman Stout and '
carried. •
IN1'RODUCE OttDINANCE REZONE AF2EA BETWE1 T HE SOUTHERLY LINE OF BREWSTER AVENUE AND BOUNDED BY
" fARti STREET, BRAllFORD S'IRET, TIIDDLE'I:LD ROAD AND tHE PULGAS LINE, FROM R-!} m0 C-1-H-F.
